LiquitexProfessional Freestyle Small Painting Knife, No. 6

Amazing...
How truly well-packed this palette knife is compared to computer components and electronics received from Amazon that come in mailers or boxes without padding!Other than that it is a palette knife. The handle is not comfortable to hold - it would be better if it were round and contoured, not flat. Also, it would be better if the angled neck were a full inch and not merely three-quarters.The construction seems sturdy with a stiff flex to the unpolished blade and none in the neck. The paint on the handle is caked and slightly rough, especially towards the retaining collar. This is definitely a beginner/student-grade knife (i.e. one you would not mind losing or discarding if no longer needed). IF you want something to keep and use for years to come, definitely look elsewhere.

Works Great for Spreading Gesso
I no longer like using cotton canvas for painting because the weave makes painting details very difficult. Can't get 'clean' edges either. I started creating a smooth canvas by applying a coat of 50% Gesso/50% Modeling paste which I spread over the canvas. This knife works great for that. It's so large and flat, that you can avoid creating lines or tracks where the blade has been. I tried using a cake icing knife, but this works so much better. I also use it for just spreading gesso alone on wood canvas and it works so much better than a brush. It's very comfortable and easy to manipulate. I highly recommend it.

Sturdy and kind of scary-sharp
I got this to replace a palette knife that had snapped after short (and not very forceful) use. The blade is a lot shorter than the one I had but I adapted quickly. I used this for the rest of the school year and it's exactly the same as when I got it, except for some paint on the handle that I never bothered to clean off.My only issue is that it is VERY sharp. I know that some people really like that in a knife, and it makes it very effective for scraping, but my issue was that after some time it would scrape a small hole through my palette and let paint get onto the next layer (wax paper type). Tbh it's not a big deal. The quality and sturdiness make it more than worth it. Great price, too. I usually go for the cheapest product I can find with okay reviews.

Must have knife for larger pieces
Until I started working with this knife, I didn't appreciate how it would change my work style. The forward portion of the blade is fairly springy and this is essential to fine control, especially on canvas and linen. The offset blade makes it much easier to control in broad strokes, and the weight is surprisingly light. Very comfortable grip. Other (longer) knives are much more difficult to control but this one is "just right" in terms of size for larger format works over 1m/36". Fast becoming my favorite knife.

Great for applying paste to stencils
After using and tiring of my plastic painting knife, I decided to try this metal painting knife and loved it. I use it to apply transfer gel and embossing paste over my stencils and I must say it’s wonderfully smooth. I don’t have problems with snagging like I did with my plastic knife. Had I known about this brand first, I would have made them my number one. In fact, I’ve ordered two more, which I’m currently waiting on.I’ve seen some reviews mention how the flexibility of this knife bothers them. While it does have a little give, I didn’t find it to be incredibly, annoyingly flexible, however, keep in mind, I only use this for paste stenciling. What I can say is, if you are in fact heavy handed, you might indeed find this knife unsuitable. It’s not as solid/strong, as say a spoon or fork, but for my use, just right! No deductions on this one. Pictures attached.

Very handy painting knife for covering and shooting larger areas in smaller paintings.
This is a lightweight and well-balanced palette knife. It is easy to use.Note that Amazon appears to send random numbered palette knives. I got #3 and the #6 as a replacement instead of my original order for #12. It was quite painful to get a refund after Amazon sent me the wrong model for the second time. It took multiple calls to the customer service and many minutes of waiting. I ended up buying it from an art store in the end.

Large knives are VERY large
I ordered a large No. 16 knife because all the Liquitex large knives have rivets that prevent the blade from pulling out of the handle. I've had several palette/painting knives that did exactly that. The large No. 16 is well-made, with two rivets through a long tang, but it measures 11" from the end of the handle to the tip of the blade. If you want big knives, these are recommended.I wish the small Liquitex knives had rivets to keep them together.

Finally found it
I’ve tried to find this shape for over a year in a knife that had flex and no weld ( this is where it breaks first) and this one is perfect, its flexes enough to paint with, the handle is notched for gripping, there is no big weld spot where over time it breaks. And best of all its very affordable about the same price as all the cheap knock off, and off brands I tired. I’m a customer for life for these, the other shapes were excellent too.

Flexible, lightweight, useful
I am using my palette knife to apply gesso on my pages. The result is a smooth, flawless page with the minimum amount of gesso and no streaks. I am also using it to apply texture paste over stencils. Its fine tip makes it easy to pay attention to detail; the flexibility of the blade makes paste application an easy task. I am very happy with my purchase and thoroughly recommend this item!

Great for spreading, applying or mixing paint
I use this on medium to large scale paintings. It works well with acrylic paint and/or moulding mediums. Useful for veiling and masking too. It came as expected and is good quality. I would have preferred a slightly firmer blade - there is quite a bit of flex - but will still order more of this brand in future. It has a good strong and comfortable grip. A practical and fun edition to any art studio.

Just what I needed
Just starting to paint with acrylics and was uncertain what size/shape knife I needed for mixing paint on my palette. This turned out to be perfect for the job. It has a good quality blade, is comfortable to hold, easy to clean, and is a bargain at this price.

Good quality, easy to use
I used this one more often that all other pallets knives. It's just the right size for me. Feels good and would last for a long time. Totally worth the money.

having fun with it
Arrived today, having fun with it.Flexible, springy and sturdy. It's well balanced but a bit cumbersome for my small hands - I'll soon get the hang of it!Using with oils on wood at present and looking forward to using with acrylics on wood and canvas.I want some more for my larger works now.
