Worked Perfectly
Product was very easy to use. Package give you everything that is needed to make the repair. Mesh had double side tape on 2 ends that were very strong. I used my own dry wall knife to clean up the hole before patching, as well as extra mesh that I had on hand. The extra mesh was not need just wanted to use extra that I had on hand. This product is highly recommended.

Awesome kit for a beginner or veteran
I was filling in a phone mount (who has a landline anymore?) and I have no experience with drywall. I was looking into these complicate deals with wire mesh, tape, etc and then found this and decided to give it a shot. It worked great!First, the kit says the surface needs to be clean and dust free. I did what I could but with all the insulation, etc in there it wasn't perfect by any means. I did use a razor to trim so of the ragged edges. The 3M backpiece still stuck and held very easily. You can break pieces off to adjust the size which is nice since one side of my hole was against a stud so I wanted to make that side shorter.Next, I filled it with the provided filler. This stuff is amazing! I've used basic spackle before and this is much easier to work with and just fill the entire hole. The tip of doing a final pass with the putty knife being wet helped a lot too. It took less than a minute to fill and smooth the hole. I also only used about half of the container and had plenty left that I used to fill other little holes/dings around the house. It did dry very fast and the next day was easy to sand down and make it smooth. It's worth noting that mine is going behind backsplash so I didn't care about texture but you'd have to get a separate texture kit if you wanted it to match a textured wall. This will be smooth.Overall, easy as pie, took no time at all, made me a lifelong fan of 3M filler products and I'd definitely buy it again. It included everything I needed from the back panel, spackle, putty knife and sandpaper.

Excellent product
I love how easy and simple it was to use. I fixed a hole in less than 30 minutes! Great work! The adhesion does go away fast so I had to hold it down as I patched it up.

Worked pretty good, but not enough compound
Had a double light switch hole to patch in the garage. It abutted a stud so I had to fiddle the screen to fit. BUT, this was 3/4" drywall and the provided container did not fill the hole. Fortunately, I had mistakenly ordered two of these. The second container of compound was almost enough to fill the hole, but not quite enough. When dried it was slightly concave so I used some DryDex to level it. Just beware if your hole is on the larger side.

Here's The Trick
This item is just like most items that require being glued to something. It Must be clean, sheetrock is extremely dust so very little would ever stick to it. The backing board has 2 pieces of 2 sided tape toapply to the sheetrock backside for strength. When you have the hole the size needed use a damp rag andlightly clean the edges and backside. Allow to dry overnight then take duct tape and roll a piece into a ballplace it into the hole so the remaining dust now sticks to the tape. Use a couple of pieces just to make sure it's clean then lightly do the same thing to the edges. I then placed scotch tape around the edge of sheetrock so dust wouldn't get on my backing board. Carefully install the backing board and remove the scotch tape before you apply pressure to the backing plate. I then used part of the mud around the wall edges and pulled the backing board into place and held tightly as instructed. Be sure not to let any of the mud get on the area where the 2 sided tape needs to stick. Then follow the rest of the instructions as directed and Not Applying to much pressure when adding the mud to backing board. Drying time is crucial for strength of the sheetrock mud. Sand and recoat in low areas allowing time to dry completely.

As Long as Your Hole Is a Rectangle
It was too small for the odd-shaped electrical wiring hole in the ceiling. What can I say, there are better solutions for holes not made by your doorknob, for goodness sakes. Better yet, put in a spring loaded door stop.

Worked great filling a huge ceiling hole
I had to patch a ~4" hole in a concrete ceiling (skim coated, no actual dry wall paneling). For a hole this big, I probably should have made a plug out of scrap drywall, but instead, I tried to fill it in slowly by building up layers with joint compound. That was a beginner's mistake; It took way too long to build up and drips out before it dries. The compound in this repair kit has a lot of embedded fibers, which makes it more like clay than regular compound. I couldn't use the plastic backer from the kit, but it stuck well enough onto another metal plate I installed and had no worries about it falling out. It also hardened without cracking or shrinking noticeably. I opted to make the patch slightly concave and went over again with regular joint compound, just to ensure the surface texture was consistent. After sanding and painting, I totally can't figure out where the hole used to be.Very easy to use for someone with no experience, and the result was basically equivalent to what I would have expected from a contractor. Only downside was cost; Maybe not worth it for real pros, but makes sense for DIYers.
