works great right out of the box. however he directions are very lacking. Mostly straight forward on how to assemble it. The unit has a switch that indicates on or mode. if it is on, when it is dark out it will come on. when in mode when it is dark out it will blink.

So far these are working well. I put them outside and hung them around the shade umbrella of my outdoor table. It's summer so it gets dark late but I know that the battery lasts at least 3 hours and probably longer but I'm asleep before they die. Set up was as easy as taking them out of the package, putting the base on the solar charger and then stringing them up.I received these solar powered lights for free in exchange for a review but so far I have no complaints. If whatever the current price is is worth it to you then go for them.
