Dorfman Pacific womens Dpc Outdoors Solarweave Treated Cotton Hat

I tried the white hat version out in the high Sierra Nevada recently and it worked perfectly, keeping my head cool and after three days on all day walks in clear blue skies and high altitude UV, the top of my head took on no red color at all. I expected some color and had brought a white bicycle type cap just in case, to wear under this hat, but it makes your head get hotter; and thankfully was not needed. I purposely did not use sunscreen on my bald pate, to test out the hat. Worked perfectly ! For years I've been using a walking hats with wide brim and a nylon shroud protecting the back of the neck, but it made me hot and also I looked like a nerd in photos. My head was so much cooler with this hat and the wide-brim protected my neck in the afternoon too. I tipped the hat a bit to assist. Keeping you head cool = a great outcome. Now I wear it everyday on walks.

Nice hat. When I got it, my wife liked it so much, I ordered another one for her! We wear them for fishing. I'm a head sweater, the mesh top lets the air in and lets the heart out. The wide brim is perfect for maximum blocking the sun! You can get it wet too!Update: I wore my hat for the first time fishing yesterday. I was very pleased with it. The wide brim kept the sun off my face, and the liner band kept my from getting sweat in my eyes. I really like having the chin strap, it kept my hat from blowing off when the boat was moving at high speeds. The underside of the brim is a dark green, this is important for reducing the glare from the water from reflecting in my face. Of course the mesh crown is terrific, it let my body heat out and the breeze through, keeping me nice and cool. I'm not a hat guy, but it can get really hot on the water here in Florida, this hat was made for for fishing in the heat! It looks good too, even on me!

This is my second DPC hat and it did not disappoint. I wore it the first time in a full day of sun and it kept me covered. It fit great by using the provided sizers and the strap made me know it would not blow away even though it stayed on in a pretty strong wind. It packed well and came back to shape immediately.I highly recommend it if you are looking for a lightweight breathable and packable sun protection hat.

I have this hat in khaki and have worn it on safari and windy boats. I bought the light beige to wear to Europe, because it’s dressier than khaki.The hat wears well, and the ventilation relieves some of the built-up heat in a closed hat. When you have to really tighten the chin strap because of wind, it does make the shape a little wonky but no more than than other hats. The quality of this brand is always high, and the green under the brim helps cut down on glare.

Hat fits true to size, which is getting to be more of a problem with many hat manufacturers. Good construction and light weight which again should be logical for a summer hat. Professionally packaged and shipped which again is a plus. I have not owned it long enough to relate whether or not it will hold up to hot summer days here in Florida, but time will tell.

I have wanted a hat just like this for ages! The only problem was that the box it was shipped in arrived crushed so the hat inside was also crushed. I'm hoping that in time, and with a little misting, it will straighten out and be truly perfect.

I'm writing this review on behalf of my husband, he received it for a gift at Christmas. It fits true to size (unless you have a real mop of hair maybe), is lightweight and would appear to ventilate well in hot conditions (yet to be experienced). He was especially pleased with the cord toggle fastener which appeared to have a very good grip under the chin for windy conditions (a problem with his old hat that he lost on a trip). It's hard to evaluate the green under the brim but I'm sure it is meant to serve a useful purpose (reduce sun reflection?) and he'll be checking it out in the spring.

This hat has everything I shopped for: packable, wide brim, SPF 50 and chin strap. Unfortunately, the large wanted to levitate with only a light breeze, so I returned it (With NO problems whatsoever!) and ordered Medium. (My head measures 23") Medium proved to be too small. Resorted to shopping local so I could try them on, and purchased a similar Dorfman Pacific model with better fit.
