Scavenger Hunt

FINALLY!
FINALLY!Finally?Yes, finally. This movie is fantastic. For years the only place I could find it was on Youtube (God bless whoever ripped and digitized and uploaded their old VHS copy on there), and I want it known that while I do not usually condone piracy, I find it completely acceptable in the case of literally not being able to acquire a product otherwise. However! The moment I saw that this product existed (have I said FINALLY yet?) I was able to cast off the shame of my digital thievery and restore my honor as an official, Bona Fide owner! There's also some cool bonus material which I honestly did not expect. I give this movie and Blu-ray each 1,000,000 out of 5 stars and so help me if you disagree with me I will steal all of your items and put them in my own pen and keep all the points and I won't even feel bad about doing so.

This movie was a favorite of mine when I was a kid
This movie was a favorite of mine when I was a kid, I never missed an opportunity to see it when it popped up on television. When I saw it was available I pre-ordered without a second thought. When it arrived I was gratified that my family wanted to watch it with me. My young teenage daughter didn't recognize the people in it of course, but she laughed as much as I did. It was as funny or more so than I remembered. Some of the jokes were a bit dated, and the vast differences in the world between then and now were a bit sad to contemplate, but I still laughed as much as I did as a kid.I don't know that this movie benefited greatly from a blu-ray version that much, but it was a crisp transfer that maximized the source material beautifully. I felt like I was in a theater watching a new print.Fun enough to appeal to kids today, extra funny for anyone old enough to recognize the people in it.

Incredibly unappreciated movie FINALLY on Blu-Ray (tho DVD would have been fine for me)
This is a movie I've wanted on DVD for DECADES, and when it finally goes digital.....pfffffft....they jump straight to Blu-Ray. I don't even have a Blu-Ray player, so I watch it on my son's Xbox. The resolution is SO FAR BEYOND my VHS copy that I'm speechless, and a little taken aback. I mean, it's so clear, it looks like video tape (think soap opera type video, only pure digital). The 'brownness' of it (70s movie-brown, I mean) is gone, replaced by what looks like a digital camera that follows the stars around, and reminds me of a PERFECT DIGITAL version of behind the scenes action, which is weird (to me), b/c I LIKE the 70s brown that still shows up on DVDs of movies and TV from that era.I've yet to see/listen to the extra features, tho I'm excited to b/c I'd like to hear more behind the scenes stuff about one of my favorite movies of the 70s. It's a goofy film, but good natured all the way, and there are some REALLY FUNNY scenes in it and I recommend it to everyone, particularly those who can set aside being stuck in whatever present (tense) you're in at the time and enjoy this comedy for all the good things it contains.

Funny movie great for the whole family!
I love this movie! I've been waiting forever for it to be released. Everyone is in it. Vincent Price, an extremely wealthy game maker, dies & his will gives $200 Million to whoever figures out all the clues, finds them & brings them back all before 5pm. Cloris Leachman is hilarious, not only with the dialog, but with the physical comedy. Scatman Crothers plays a ukulele & sings. Roddy McDowell is the butler. Tony Randall is the loving, supportive, go team go, father. Dirk Benedict & Willie Aames are brothers. Richard Benjamin is a great bad guy. And poor Avery Schreiber has all of his ostriches "borrowed". Lots of fun for the whole family!

Movie to make you laugh!
I've seen this movie many times over the years and wanted to see it again. After my original VHS collection went in the garage sale (years ago) and my new collection started to take shape, I realized only recently that I didn't have this movie and had to have it!If you are in the mood to laugh, this is a good one to have. SPOILER ALERT!!! Okay, you're still reading: From the beginning "gaming" scene to the last shots of the poor gardener, I just love this movie. It is an over the top kind of humor but it works with the cast and the premise of the movie. So what is the premise? A very wealthy game tycoon leaves his money to whoever can win the "Scavenger Hunt" that he's put together while still alive. There are points awarded for certain items and the person or team that gets the most points will inherit the money. The different teams work together with different levels of success and the movie is just funny. Similar movies would be 1941, It's a Mad, Mad, Mad World, The Villain, and Clue.I hope this helps you decide if you want to try this movie.

Guilty pleasure
When I was a kid in the early 1980s, this was one of a handful of movies that was seemingly on channels like HBO and Showtime ALL THE TIME. With that in mind, I’ve seen it dozens of times, and each time it’s like visiting an old friend. The movie is simple, light fluff with a who’s who of 1970s character actors. It’s the kind of film where you just turn your brain off and enjoy the hour and a half of silliness.I showed it to my 9 year old, and while he obviously didn’t have the original emotional connection to it that I have, he chuckled and seemed to enjoy it.The blu Ray is probably about as good as it’s ever going to get, and it provides the best version this film has seen for a long time.

Pure late '70's enjoyment.
Finally released in the digital era! I haven't watched this film in about 35 years until last night. I thought it held up well. It is corny, screwball and misses at times but, in the end, it is entertaining. I thought the transfer to blu ray looked reasonable for a film of its age It deserves a watch to see the cameos if nothing else. Special features include new interviews with Richard Benjamin and Richard Masur (each about 10 minutes). There is also a commentary with the director. Pure late '70's enjoyment.

Wonderful quality on a film from 1979!
It's just as I remember and the quality was amazing considering the age of the film. For a film that's 40 years old I loved it!

US DVD - unable to play in UK
Disappointed to receive a DVD that doesn't play on a UK machine..... it would have been helpful to have been made aware of this fact before order was sent and opened. :(

Very Funny Movie!
This is one of the funniest movies of all time. The only reason I did not rate it a five is that it took an extremely long time to arrive, even though it came by the expected date.
