THE MUSHROOM TREE MYSTERY (Su Lin Series)

Ms. Yu has brought to life the ending of Japan's occupation of Singapore along with all the horrors that might have happened if the authorities had honored the wishes of the fanatical faction of the Japanese military. Su Lin is fabulous narrating her story and introducing us to the people who pass through her life.Utterly fascinating story.

I have read all the books in this series so far. Ovidia Yu transports you to an exotic place that has seen troubled times in its history, and peoples it with convincing characters and surprising twists to each story. A captivating read for lazy summer afternoons, cold winter evenings, and long, long train rides. I am a fan.

Characters and setting both geographical and historical are really good.

Interesting war book in an area not usually covered. The whole series is interesting. Am hoping for a follow up.

This is another in the Su Lin mystery series and this one is set in Singapore just as Hiroshima has been bombed and the Japanese occupation is coming to an end. Su Lin is a delightful character who interacts with all of Singapore's diverse cultures. The book also provides insight into the final days of WW II in the Pacific.
