GREAT for what it is marketed as-- a BATH toy.
There are a LOT of negative reviews for this toy based upon the fact that it might not be made from natural rubber and therefore MIGHT not be safe for babies to chew on, so I felt compelled to share my experience with it.I understand that babies (especially teething babies) tend to put EVERYTHING in their mouths, and I understand wanting to be sure that the toys they will be chewing on are made of safe materials. However, given that my son is exposed to this toy only at bath time, and only under adult supervision, I was not overly concerned about it, especially since I could find no evidence that the toy was made out of anything harmful. In fact that ended up being a moot point because although my son is 7 months, and chews on everything, he somehow doesn't find this toy pleasant to teethe on (yes, I let him try when he was playing with it).I will admit that this toy does have some flaws: If you are looking for it to float around in the tub neatly, it doesn't do that (unless partially filled with water). It's not for teething on, and it's not easy for very small babies to squirt by themselves. That being said, I still think this is a fantastic toy!So why do I think this toy merits a 5-star review, given all its flaws? Because it is by far the toy we play with the most at bathtime. I love filling it with water and squirting my son with it, and he always shrieks with giggles and tries to grab it and dunk it under water (it has the best squirting range of any of the bath toys we have). If it's on the other side of the tub, it's the toy he reaches for, and it's the one I play with myself when he's distracted. I believe that the intention of the toy is not just to give a baby something to entertain him(or her)self with at bath time, but to provide a fun toy that both parent and baby can enjoy playing with together. And it works. And for those who say it is "hard to squirt"- not if you know how! Simply grasp the toy by the colored part (most easily done by placing the toy between the pointer and middle fingers), and push up on the bottoms of Sophie's feet (with the thumb). It's well-designed in that capacity!I hope this review helps you :)

My Granddaughter Loves It
Very cute addition for a little girl who already has the original Sophie.

We love Sophie!
We've got a soft Sophie and two teething Sophie's and have had these since my 7 mo old was born. If you've got one in your house too you know they never put em down! So we went ahead and added the bathtime version to his collection. It's a lot smaller than the others and doesn't float well like it seems it should and the water doesn't "spit" well out of the mouth so I find myself draining water out of it constantly (but you gotta do that w the rubber duckies too). At the end of the day my kid could care less about those things-- it's a sophie! And Sophie makes him smile so it's worth it

I love giraffes and Sophie is no exception
I love giraffes and Sophie is no exception. When I saw this little bath toy, I had to buy it. For my kids.Anyway, Sophie the bathtub toy has been a favorite. She's still here years later and is currently a sandbox toy (silly kids, giraffes don't live in the desert!) Her color is fading a little, but what can you expect from a toy that is a couple years old and definitely not a sandbox toy.We love all things Sophie here.

Don't expect a mini Sophie
Not a bad bath toy at all....just know what you are buying incomparison to the regular Sophie teether. The bath toy:-Half the size-The legs are all one piece instead of 4 individual pieces-The ring does not come off-The material is not as soft or flexible-Does not make any noise when you squeeze it-Even when not used as a squirt toy, water will get in and have to get squeezed out regularlyMy 5 month old son does like this toy though he gets a little frustrated after a while cause it isn't really a teether and he's used to being able to get one of Sophies legs into his mouth. I'm sure he'll like it even more once he's able to use it as a squirter which is what it actually is. All in all, it is still a good quality toy that I trust and would recommend it to others.UPDATE MARCH 2011:So, in trying to get the water out after a bath the other night, I squeezed Sophie's head and caused a slight tear around her mouth. Didn't think it was possible based on what I thought was great quality. I wont completely blame Sophie since It was actually me doing the squeezing but still. Oh well, we'll continue to use as is.

Best option for older teething baby.
I love this toy over the traditional giraffe. It doesn't have a squeaker which I prefer and there is a small hole at the back of the throat that was easy to superglue so there isn't worry about mold. And LO can't get to the glue because of the shape either. For early teethers I recommend the smallest Sophie with the handles. It's awesome too.

great for Sophie fans
We love Sophie in this house, so I bought this for our daughter. One night we went out for dinner and brought some toys for her to have, and grabbed this, thinking she loves Sophie but the 'real' one is too loud. This one was perfect, because she still loved playing with it but the whole restaurant didn't know it was there! Might get another - one for the bath (because it was fun there too, as intended) and one for the diaper bag.

Love Vulli
We have used little Sophie for almost a year now and she is one of our favorite little teethers, bath toys and great for throwing. Baby recently learned throwing stuff results in all kinds of chaos so he is hurling anything he can get his hands on. This is the perfect toy for baby to throw, It won't break anything in the house.

Unrealistic bath time fun
I do not typically regard the giraffe to be an aquatic mammal, but since purchasing Sophie I've been forced to reconsider. While she occasionally has buoyancy issues (who doesn't?), she is a child-friendly bath time companion.
