Great book
I am learning so much. I love that the author has kids with ADHD and can attest to how things are.

My favorite book on ADHD and teens
I read many, many books on ADHD when my daughter was diagnosed in 9th grade. This one was the most helpful and comprehensive. I referred to it often. I just referred it to an acquaintance, and thought I'd review it as well.

A MUST READ for all parents of teenagers and adolescents with ADHD!
Chris Dendy’s 3rd Edition of Teenagers with ADHD is that rare combination of education, real world experience & inspiration. Dendy knows what unique challenges parents of ADHD teenagers face - she’s been there! - and she provides honest, easy to follow paths for success that can work immediately in any ADHD home. As an adult with ADHD and parent to 5 kids (3 with ADHD!) I don’t have a lot of time to dissect jargon, remember what acronyms stand for what or search for answers in ADHD parenting books. Dendy’s Teenagers with ADHD is easy to follow, easy to understand & powerfully intuitive; reading it felt like having my best friend, favorite teacher and personal champion all sitting next to me at the kitchen table! Parents of ADHD Teenagers need to know they’re not alone; Dendy’s 3rd Edition understands the hopes, fears and frustrations we face, and can actually help!’ -Jeremy Didier, CHADD Coordinator - ADHDKC, Parent Coach - ImpactADHD

A shaming way to frame ADHD
I was looking forward to receiving this book for my family and a family friend. When it arrived I began reading it immediately. Unfortunately right away it became clear that the author[s] paint ADHD as a negative problem. There is lip service to some of the benefits of ADHD but the overall theme is that people who have it are broken. I though about what it would be like to be a young teenager and find this book on a parent's desk. It would be terribly shaming and negative. Many people who have ADHD have to work hard to recognize their strengths -- which are usually many-- and let go of feeling ashamed of what they struggle with. I would like to hear from authors who understand neurodiversity as part of life and highlight the benefits and wonder that often come along with brains doing their complex and wonderful things while also providing techniques to support the hard stuff. As for now I will not be keeping this book or sharing it with my friend or her daughter.

Another practical and helpful resource by Chris Dendy
This updated version is a comprehensive resource for those loving and supporting youth managing ADHD. Dendy sifts through scientific information and explains multiple facts about ADHD in a readable, understandable and practical manner. The book validates the common challenges seen in teenagers managing ADHD and provides a wealth of suggestions to help. Chapters are divided clearly to cover an array of topics: school, home, emotions, parental roles and success beyond academics. I regularly use this book as a resource and recommend it to families. A classic reference on ADHD
A classic resource for parents and teachers of teens and tweens and other young'uns with ADHD. The author follows up her previous edition with a hard-hitting account of the facts of supporting students with this challenging condition. I say "other" kids because I recommend this book to families of students of all ages. As the parent of sixth grader with ADHD, this was the first introduction I had to ADHD and it was the most lasting. Helps parents of kids of all ages know what to expect when the unexpected arrives.
