Makes mangled, frayed cuts, but works at all.
Well it works 'at all' so I was able to replace the brakes and shift cables on a single bike that I converted to high-rise handlebars. But, the cuts on the steel rope mangled the ends, with frayed wires, rather than making a clean cut. You have to cut several times to get through the wire at all. And then, the resulting cut is too thick to get through the sleeve.Later I found this method on YouTube:1) heat the cable with a propane torch in one spot2) Pull the cable apartThis gave super clean cuts that would easily go through the sleeve. If I had known about this I would not have needed the tool at all.

Does what it needs to...
It works, has a cheap feel, but I knew I wasn't buying a snap-on tool too.I cut and made up some new shimano cables/housings, cut them like hot butter, but I reused some old cable housing, it took a couple tries to get through the heavier housing. Can't complain it did what I needed todo, but the plastic handles are not glued on at all.I would buy them again if needed,

Cheap and effective
Just redid the brakes on my road bike and these made things much nicer. I was previously using copper wire cutters for both the inner and outer cables and they didn't do the best job. These cutters, however, worked really well. I used the main cutters for the outer cables and the notches next to the main cutter for the inner cables. Both worked well without fraying or damaging the cables. The crimping tool and the pokey thing both came in handy as well. I won't be needing this tool too often, but I'll be glad I have it when I do any brake or shifter cable work.

Not effective
Alright product for price. Doesnโt cut through bike brake cable well first time. Have to use a couple clamps to cut the cable causing frail.

Maybe I don't understand how to use this properly, or maybe the metal I was clamping was bad, but these did not seem to cut the brake cables or crimp them well.

Not nearly sharp enough
Not nearly sharp enough to cleanly cut through the cables on my bike. Left ends mangled and frayed if they cut at all, which made them difficult to cap.The crimp, however, works well, but that would be hard to mess up.

Good for about 5 cuts
I got these to fix up a bike I recently bought (replacing all brake and shifter cables) and couldn't even get through installing the 4 new cables before these cutters stopped cutting. What do you even call cutters that don't cut? Things?Anyway, these things are of a pretty poor quality. I tried tightening up the nut holding the two handles together but that just made it more difficult to get the low quality cut that these provided.Guess I should have just bought the Park Tool brand and been done with it.
