Baby Bertha is a very good model rocket to learn on...
The 8 year old princess took 3 nights (not consecutively) to complete this rocket. This is a very good, solid, foundation rocket project, teaching cutting out of the balsa fins, sanding, gluing, painting etc.She got a blue ribbon at the fair with it as her first "hand built" rocket.I've built ~20 rockets (many years ago) and this is one of the best overall kits...I really wanted to add white pin stripes, and more detail, but was over ruled by the chicks in the house...Big fun... A good kit!

Nice size. Fun to build and shoot.
We started with some small rockets and quickly found they are VERY hard to see. This is a nice size. Not too big. Big enough. And you get to 100% paint the whole thing. This rocket always makes the travel team (kids pick) when we head to the field.

Great looking rocket. Easy to build
My son built this as a physics class project. Directions were fairly clear and the rocket turned out looking great. First test flight later this week. Let's hope there are no issues Houston.

Mixed feelings
Was a little difficult to put together. The tube was very thin and weak, especially for the money. Biggest problem was Amazon sent it in a bubble envelope and all the Balsa pieces punched out. One of the fin tips was broke off and I sanded the other ones to match it. Actual flight was pretty impressive

I built so many of these when i was a kid
It was fun to build with my kid. This is probably the most viewer-friendly rocket (of this type and size). I always loved the Zinger and those super fast small ones (one-time-use cause you never get them back with a big C) but you don't even see it leave the launch pad. you hear all this noise and then its gone. This one is more like a cruise ship leaving port. You see some activity, you see the water churning a bit and then it slowly starts crawling along. I think for kids and non 'rocket' people, thats better. If you are like some 12 year old kid and you are trying to impress some girlies in your class, make sure you fly this one. you should pimp it out with like hello kitty and you will be the man. trust me i know.

They are both easy to assemble and great to launch
My family does an annual rocket launch and I purchased the baby bertha for my daughter and the bertha for myself. My daughter ended up taking the bigger rocket. They are both easy to assemble and great to launch.

Skill level 3 but listed as level 1 on amazon
Great product. Exactly what I would expect from Estes. Amazon lists this as skill level 1 but it is in fact skill level 3. Purchased this for a beginner but will have to complete most of the assembly for her.

This is a fantastic basic starter rocket. Easy to build, easy to transport and use. We have been having a blast with it!
I have wanted one of these model rockets for most of my life but never seemed to get around to it. As many of you will probably agree, when you have kids, it gives you an excuse to get toys that you always wanted as a kid. You know.... for them.... cough, cough, snicker...So I bought this Baby Bertha fully expecting to build it over time with my son and launching it next spring or summer. Construction was so simple and so fast that we had a finished rocket in 2 days. Most of that was drying time for the paint! With the recommended B4-4 engines, we headed out to some wide open land with some friends and huge anticipation for our very first launch. This thing was awesome. It launched without issue, flew straight and true and deployed it's chute as it was supposed to, allowing my son to catch it before it even hit the ground. Everything about this rocket is amazing and I am sure it has started us down the road of many launches and a number of other rockets!I only have 2 regrets with regard to this purchase. I should have bought many more engines and I wish I had of done this years ago! Neither are any kind of knock against this kit. Please note that this is a very basic kit, great for beginners. It does NOT come with engines, launching tower or chute module, so there is additional money to be spent but it is still a great buy as all those things will be needed no matter which kit you start with (that I have seen so far) and these things only need to by bought once. Except the engines of course, you had better stock up on those.... Trust me!Excellent experience and value. My son loves it and now my daughter wants one of her own to personalize as hers.

Excellent Rocket.I build this rocket quickly and easily in an afternoon.I launched it in the middle of a football field and was able to see it clearly throughout it's journey. It came down so near to the launch site that I was able to catch it before it even touched the ground.I plan to buy a set for my entire grade 6 class next year.

It's quit simple to build I lost mine the first flight because I used b6-3 engines not the recommended but works great thought you spend more money on spray paint

Need More To Launch
Bought this as a gift but I should have read the description more clearly. It is just basically the shell. You still need the engines, etc. Definitely my fault but others who do not typically buy this stuff should be aware. I ended up getting something else.
