Beyond excellent! Definitely recommend for any/all Studio 54 addicts
BEAUTIFUL book and very well done. It’s definitely a book you would display on your coffee table. It’s very large and the pictures are phenomenal.I only wish I were old enough to experience Studio 54. My aunt and grandmother went to New York almost every weekend (we’re from Youngstown, OH) and I was about 5 or 6 years old at the time but remember them always talking about their crazy adventures there. My aunt met her husband there. Since then, I have totally become obsessed with Studio 54 and have purchased almost every book out there relating to it.Ian did a wonderful job with this book. It’s basically a photo album. I’m sure it had to be extremely hard on him mentally and emotionally reliving all of this when he not only did the documentary on Studio 54 but also going through these photographs to put this book together. Especially losing his best friend Steve whom it’s seemed he pretty much grew up with from college into middle age. I give Ian a lot of credit for everything he’s done. He’s been to the top, hit rock bottom when he went to prison, but came out on the top again. He has a very savvy business mind and personally, if I were in his shoes back in the day, I would’ve handled biz exactly the same way. All we do is work our butts off only to give more and more money to the government. The more we make....the more we pay 🤬. In this day and age, we don’t even have anymore “great clubs” to hang out at when we aren’t working. Life is very different from back then and I can honestly say I miss the 80s and 90s.If you are wanting a “birds-eye” view into Studio but it was before your time, I highly recommend this book. It’s worth all the extra money compared to a lot of the garbage out there.Thank you Ian! My only wish is to go back into time and experience this place as most of my family had the opportunity to do. I know it wouldn’t disappoint.

The go to book for studio 54
What’s good about this book is that it doesn’t elaborate on the downfall and the actions that closed its doors. It’s more of a tale of how to businessmen came together hired a crew and transformed an old cbs movie studio into what is considered the greatest night club that ever was and will be. Fronted by an interview with Ian schraeger, the book quickly moves into the details of getting the club up and running from the ground up, the costs the struggles, the interior design(even the blu prints and complete club layout are present. As you progress, mr schraeger treats you to photos and tidbits-including some funny stories with the thousands of celebrities that graced the dance floor. Even the remodeling in 1979 which changed the layout of the club, the tome even includes numerous news paper clippings from the years it was open , creating an ambience as if your in that era. The photos are huge, and when viewing you feel as if your sucked right in through the doors, and straight into the flashing lights, and loud sound system which is also described in detail here along with the dj booth- and yes there’s even song and guest lists. This book is the best way to visualize and experience the grand studio that no longer exists.Just one thing . This book is heavy an will require effort to lift so my recommendation is to lay it flat then just let yourself be drawn back to 1977-and the years that followed.Highly recommended.

Dionysus gives us a peek behind the velvet ropes of Studio 54
Sooooo good, you have to have it! It seems like everything that could ever be said about Studio 54 has already been said again and again, which begs the question: does the world (and your bookshelf) really need another book about the legendary disco? The answer is 100% YES, you need THIS Studio 54 book! First of all, the book is beautiful, oversized in black satin with the silver and gold Studio 54 logo on the cover, with the title and author blind embossed on the spine (pairs perfectly with the Andy Warhol: Polaroids XL book) and is the ideal design for the content. Secondly, the inside does not disappoint. Tons of photos of the glamorous patrons, as expected, but also behind the scenes photos of club itself in many stages of design, and facsimiles of Schrager's personal scrapbook of Studio 54. Lastly, Ian Schrager is the ultimate insider to retell the often told story of Studio 54. You get a peek behind the curtain to the see the celebrated early work of a man who wasn't just a one hit wonder with Studio 54, but a hospitality genius.

Fabulous book!
What an absolutely gorgeous book. The first thing to delight the senses is the cover, which is tactile fabric with the iconic 54 logo. Open the book and prepare not to stir for hours as you are drawn back into the late 70's and the story and the people who conceived of and frequented Studio 54. The photos themselves are a joy. Worth every penny.
