Yes, salute.
Years ago on an old country road in Vermont, I popped the cassette version of Come Together into my car player and drove happily ever after to I can't remember where. I wasn't even sure I wanted to buy Come Together because no matter how good the performer, the Beatles would always do it better. Besides, I already owned every Beatle CD with all of these songs. Anyway going back, the car engine and the music started at the same time which was so funny because my new husband opened up all the windows and turned up the volume at the same time as well. We may have forgotten where we were headed, but not the party we had getting there. Listening, singing and remembering everything that made being young in our time great was recalled by the time the music stopped. I didn't think twice about buying the CD. How could I resist? The music like fine wine gets better with age. The quality, the packaging and yes, even the cost made this a very worthwhile purchase. Anything that evokes memories of a time I think we still wish was is priceless. I can't think of a better way to describe this CD, America not only salutes the Beatles, but honors them and thanks them.

US country covers of Beatles songs that works brilliantly
The concept of different music styles being applied to another e.g. Dylan songs having had both spiritual choirs and reggae tribute CDs, is one of those gambles that when it works can be brilliant. This is one of those succesful cases taking the great Beatles songbook and having a range of different country and western (not all of them well known to me) apply a range of interpretations. The great aspect for me is that the approach in each is so fresh (notably "We can work it out" with a mock string quartet intro by Phil Keaggy & PFR) or just as enjoyable as the original ("I'll follow the sun" by David Ball and "All my loving" by Suzy Bogguss & Chet Atkins especially impressing). Inevitably there are a few bummers - I fear I cannot take Tanya Tucker's "gargling with gravel" earthy voice very often and certainly not on "Something" but overall the quality is so good I would put this CD up there as one of the best Beatles tribute I have heard.

well worth the wait!
I first heard about this album back in the 1990's but could not find it in any music stores in London, then earlier this year I was able to place an order with HMV Uk. However, they had to admit they could no longer supply. So, I tried Amazon.com and to my delight was able order a copy through them. It arrived, all the way from Texas and was certainly 'well worth the wait'. Excellent songs of course, but all given a bit of a twist. Very good performances - a really enjoyable record. Hard to pick out favourites, but I really liked Delbert McClintons take on 'Come Together' & Willie Nelson's 'One After 909'; also Kristofferson's track and Sammy Kershaw also. In short, a terrific cd, which I can recommed to anyone.

1990s country stars sing the Beatles
When this album was released in 1996, I recorded Suzy Bogguss' version of "All My Loving" with Chet Atkins." And when they finally reissued the Bogguss/Atkins duets album, I got that song as a bonus disc. But on this CD, Beatles fans get to hear the last generation of country stars like Tanya Tucker, John Berry, Delbert McClinton, Randy Travis, Shenandoah, Kris Kristofferson and Willie Nelson. They are a talented bunch, so grab a copy of this out-of-print CD while you can.

ENJOYABLE, ENTERTAINING CD
I've been a Beatles fan ever since I saw them on the Ed Sullivan show. So, take it from a life-long Beatles fan that this is a great CD! If I Fell by Sammy Kershaw, I'll Follow the Sun by David Ball, and Yesterday by Billy Dean are just beautiful, We Can Work It Out by Phil Keaggy & PFR has a delightfully surprising arrangement, so does One After 909 by Willie Nelson. The entire CD is very entertaining!

This is a great CD. Fun covers of classic Beatles songs by country singers. I am not a country fan at all, but Suzy Bogus is fantastic! Not so crazy about Kris Kristofferson's Paperback Writer though. Still a very enjoyable CD

For those who like Beatles songs but not the Beatles?
I have never really liked the Beatles or the sound they make but have often thought they have some very good songs. I prefer to hear those songs sung by others and this is an album of mainly modern country artists (Huey Lewis and Phil keaggy being the exceptions) singing Beatles songs, some very well known, others perhaps others less well known (to me at least!). John Berrys version of Long and Winding Road is very good. Colin Raye turns in an excellent version of Let It Be. Not so sure about Can't Buy Me Love by Shenandoah but I am not so keen on that song anyway. One of the highlights must be Chet Atkins and Suzy Boggus singing All My Loving. The highlight must be Delbert MCClintons Come Together.......a great version .......It is modern country pop.........and a really good listen........not so sure fans of the Beatles would approve but those who like Beatles songs but don't like the sound of the Beatles this is a good listen........enjoyable
