May be an acquired taste for some
Update:I updated the initial 3 star rating to 5 stars because I received a very warm and lovely message from Hee Creek offering a refund. I am not going to accept it though, I plan to continue munching a couple here and there while I learn whether or not I'll develop a taste for them (and, by the way, it's looking promising). I've tried new things before that took a period of getting used to and some have ended up becoming a favorite thing.Anyway, I think that Hee Creek's offer was classy. The company is obviously confident about its product and client base; plus the offer showed a genuine concern about customer satisfaction (even to a newbie like me who just stumbled onto the product and thought, "Hey now, that might be interesting!"So, I'm a fan!I'm more determined than ever to experiment with how I might eat these. They may become part of my breakfast or a mid morning snack. OH!, I just thought of the possible yummy happiness pairing a couple sesame balls with a banana. How did I not think of this until now? I can imagine the flavors complimenting each other. I'm going to give it a try!Ok, back on topic, if you're unfamiliar with this product and tend to be faint of heart with unfamiliar foods, the sesame balls might not be for you. But if you're bold and are as happy to go through the experience of trying strange foods and developing a broader, more appreciative pallet just as much as discovering something you never knew Iyou couldn't live without, then you might want to give these a try.But give Hee Creek's product a fair chance. With its strong values and concern about customer satisfaction, Hee Creek is the kind of company that others should strive to emmulate and customers should support!Original post:Never had black sesame balls before but I love sesame seeds so I gave these a try. The picture is a bit misleading, the balls are not perfectly round and shiny. I suppose if that is important to anyone, a person could spiff them up to serve to company.I'm still on the fence about whether I like these or not. Very different than any other sesame product I've tried before. Not sweet. Kind of gritty. I like the sesame aftertaste. I think the product might grow on me once I've gotten used to it. Definitely worth trying new things from other cultures!

Not very sweet. (It’s good!)
It’s naturally sweet from the honey. Clean packaging and plenty of shelf life. One bite healthy snack!

Yummy!
I liked that it came with two containers and the sesame balls are delicious! One thing to note it that the wrapper might be a bit sticky at times (I think it is the honey used) but overall I would purchase this again. :)

Don’t bother
Unable to return.Don’t write many reviews but had to with these. Can’t even tell if there is any sesame seed in it.Tastes like a ball of black bean mush and honey.Very disappointed.

Not nearly as sweet as I was expecting, and mainly tasting of sesame, but not bad
I’ve often seen pills or balls like this in various media (movies, tv shows, anime, etc.) and was always curious to try them. I know there are many different types using different ingredients, so I had no expectations of what to expect. I am a fan of honey, so that being one of the ingredients, I had high hopes of delicious flavors. After trying them, I can’t say my expectations were met, but they also weren’t completely let down either. I think this was more middle of the road, but by no means bad.The balls, as shown on the product page and package label, are shiny, but in reality are rough and unfinished looking (likely due to how soft they are and the rough texture of the foil when wrapped). They are maybe a little smaller in diameter than a quarter, but not by a lot. They are wrapped in foil with a silver inner and gold outer color to it and it is pulled up, twisted, and left with a little top (almost like a gnome's hat). There are two clear plastic containers with 20 pills inside each (40 pills in total) and an orange plastic screw on cap. The label on the container is almost entirely in Chinese, but there is an extra sticker with some information in English (but not everything, like nutrient label). The product page indicates the importance of the process and taking nine times to work the black sesame seed as it is hard for people to digest with its tough outer shell. The smell of the pills is mainly sesame and there is little honey aroma to them. Popping one in your mouth (or rather pealing it off the foil wrapper and into your mouth) will have you discovering a gritty texture and dominant sesame flavor. There is some honey to the flavor which adds a mild sweetness, but absolutely not nearly as much as I was hoping for. At the beginning, I wasn’t so sure about this pills and thought that I wasn’t going to like them, but in the end, I found that it was pretty decent. I can’t claim to be a huge fan of sesame, but this wasn’t as strong or offensive as I was worried it could be, and I think a lot has to do with the processing and initial ingredients used that result in a decently balanced flavor and very mild sweetness. I’m not sure if these are going to grow on me or not, but I will have one from time to time without complaint and am still interested to try other recipes.

Excellent, natural ingredients
This is essentially just honey + sesame + black rice + black soybean. I believe that is the entire ingredient list and it tastes very natural (and very good). It basically just tastes like a sweet ball of ground sesame. Not exactly a dessert or sesame candy, but fairly close to it.The sesame balls are individually wrapped in foil, but mine look nothing like the perfect smooth balls shown in the pictures. That being said, the quality and taste are both good so I don't mind if they aren't as pretty. As far as health benefits, it's just black sesame and black rice and black soybeans. I'm assuming the health benefits are due to the anthocyanin content, in which case, you would probably be better off cooking black rice and eating it regularly (or eating blueberries, bilberries, etc). That being said, I love the convenience of this and I like the taste.Overall - if you are looking for healthy sesame balls with natural ingredients, these are a good choice. Just be aware that they do not look perfectly round or smooth like the photos.
