Storybook Style: America's Whimsical Homes of the 1920s

Loved this book ~ the in-depth history and the photos of my dream homes!

The good news: this is probably the only book you will find on this architectural style and the history behind it. Well-written and extremely informative, very readable. The bad news: the pictures are either very amateurish or reproduced badly. Many of them are quite small, and you can barely see them. The book design is terrible. There is more emphasis placed on negative space than on reproducing pictures large enough so you can see what you are looking at. Great big boxes of copy devoted to sideline type and decorative elements which are not necessary. Huge waste of space. Since the point of the book is to show and tell, it's a shame the designer decided to show off her fripperies and didn't let the writer/photographer and the content shine.

This was a gift to friend living in a real storybook house from the 1920s.She loved it and has it on her coffee table

I love the book but many of the pictures are the same from volume 1 which I also own.

I love these houses, the fotos are great, the history nice and the stories about the people who live in them or had them built is bliss
