Heavily-illustrated and no-frills version of Edgar Allen Poe's famous poem, The Raven, makes a great ebook
Edgar Allen Poe's famous poem, The Raven, combined with the haunting illustrations of Gustave Dore make a perfect match here. I've been a fan of Coleridge's The Rime of the Ancient Mariner illustrated by Dore and I was thrilled to learn Dore also illustrated The Raven. In fact, The Raven is a much shorter poem and has a lot of illustrations, almost one per page of poetry. So here Amazon offers great combination of poetry and remarkable illustration in a well-executed ebook. All the text and illustrations are present, formatted well despite being no-frills. And this product is offered at a reasonable price.I highly recommend this book for a spooky late night read, when the moon is full or perhaps around a campfire. This product definitely earns 5 out of 5 stars.

The Hidden Mind Of Poe
This short story by Edgar Allen Poe is by far one of his best works. Edgar Allen Poe, well known author and crazy man, divulges hidden information about his life with-in his short story the raven. Not nearly as good as the Black Cat in the way of finding hidden meanings but still by far a great way to shine light on his own life. It is mostly believed that Poe is actually writing about the death of his mother and the changes in his life. Hence when the poem opens it is midnight in December. It is actually New Years Eve. The Chamber is his loneliness, something Poe was alot. The Raven, often though of with bad omens saying Nevermore could very well represent his mother and what his mother went through. It can also be thought though that the Raven is actually warning Poe at the same time of the future death of his wife whome was ill at the time of writing and died two years later. I personally think the latter is the true reason behind the Ravens Nevermore. Poe realized the end was near and his beloved wife would be gone forever, thus the pain the main character is put through and the fact that a Raven is used in the first place.Book Guy For YouBooks I Think You Should Read The Black Cat Kindle - The Black Cat and Other Stories Paradise Flawed Kindle - Paradise Flawed Reads Like Murder - In Honolulu Kindle - Reads Like Murder - In Honolulu

Beautiful!
This slim book does just one thing: it presents "The Raven," one of the best-recognized poems of the American tradition, with Doré's dark and errie illustrations. The poem itself is so distinctive that even its meter, set to other words is still recognizable. Doré's engravings are not nearly so well known, however, but should be. Few other ways to print images on a commercial scale existed, back before photographic reproduction. Doré's illustration brought many other works to life as well, including Dante's Divine Comedy, Don Quixote, and even the Bible. His dramatic, emotive style of illustration not only embodies Poe's complex mood, it also raises that poem to the stature of the other world treasures to which Doré lent his talent.Printing quality in this book meets Dover's usual, impeccable standards, despite this book's affordability. Then, since only one engraving appears per 9x12" (22.5x30cm) page, the fine reproduction makes it possible to read much of the detail an original engraving would have offered. Graphic novel fans might also find something of historical interest here, as one of the great-grandparents of the visual tradition leading to today's illustrated fiction. This one is easy to enjoy in many ways, so dig in.-- wiredweird
