Programming Instructions
Hey Toyota Rav 4 owners out there whose key fob is garbage and are thinking of purchasing this product!I've had this key for a day. First thing, I went to our local Ace Hardware and had it cut, then made sure it worked in the door and the ignition. Now I can't tell you about it's durability or its longevity, but I CAN tell you about programming the beast. The key comes with a card with a link to a site where you put in your car's make, model and year, which then pops up instructions on how to program the key. Now, I'm an older guy and a writer, so with that combination reading through these instructions was pretty terrible. Nevertheless, I went out to my car and gave it a try.One of the first instructions was something like, "Unlock the driver's side door and open it, and close all the other doors, even the trunk." Well, number one, Rav 4's don't have a trunk. Now all of my doors started out being shut. So, do I open them all first, then shut them? (Again, I'm an older guy, perhaps with some brain fog - but still).Another thing I was told to do was to insert the key into the ignition then remove it twice. And I had only 5 seconds to this. But how do I insert the key, then remove it twice? And the rest of the instructions were written like that. So I went to their site and started a chat. And I asked their chat guy, "Is this a scam you're running, or is this legit?", then proceeded to tell them that their instructions were very poor and it didn't work.He aplogized - or did he? - then gave me a link to some other instuctions, on another site. I read those, and they were much clearer. So I asked him why aren't they using those instructions instead of this drabble they have on their site? - no answer. So here they are. Copy and Paste this, read it a couple of times before going out to your car and trying it. I hope this helps.InstructionsHow to Program a 2007 Toyota RAV4 Keyless Entry Remote Fob Smart KeyStep by Step How to Programming Instructions:These instructions will only program the remote portion of your Key/Remote combo. New Key fob not reliable
The key fob programmed as it should, the fob worked, but the longer I had it, the worse it got. It started out it would take more than one button click before the vehicle responded, and it only got worse from there on until it finally gave up altogether.I tried swapping the battery, it kinda worked, but wasn’t dependable, then it wouldn’t let me in 👎.I was going to return/replace it, but by now I missed the return date by 3 days.I read the reviews before buying, all seemed good, nothing against the company, but I’ll get my next one locally

It was difficult to program and it took time, but it's done.
It worked for my 2008 Toyota Rav 4. It was NOT EASY. I followed Youtube directions. Here are the directions.REMOTE PROGRAMMING (For 2008-2010 xB and Rav4 models)Please make sure to read through the programming instructions completely before attempting. All remotes that are expected to work for the vehicle will need to be with you in the vehicle before attempting the programming. Any remotes not present at the time of programming will cease to function until reprogrammed.1. Enter the vehicle, close and unlock all the doors using the power lock switch on the driver’s door.2. Open the driver’s door and then using the key within five (5) seconds, insert and remove the key from the ignition two (2) times. The rest of the programming from this point on must be completed within forty-five (45) seconds.3. Close and open the driver’s door two (2) times.4. Insert and remove the key from the ignition one (1) time.5. Close and open the driver’s door two (2) times.6. Insert the key into the ignition switch. Without starting the vehicle, switch the key to the ON position and back to the OFF position two (2) times and then remove the key.At this point the vehicle door locks should automatically lock and unlock twice, indicating that the programming mode has been activated. (If door locks do not cycle automatically then the programming procedure has failed and you need to restart the procedure from STEP 1)7. On the first remote you wish to program (we recommend programming original remotes first if you have one), press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons at the same time for 1.5 seconds, release, then press and hold LOCK for one (1) second and release. The door locks will automatically cycle one (1) time to indicate the remote has been programmed successfully. *NOTE* If the door locks cycle twice, this means the registration failed. You can repeat STEP 7 until the locks only cycle one (1) time. If the locks do not cycle one (1) time by themselves, or they stop cycling altogether, then you must repeat the entire programming procedure.8. If you have additional remotes to program, repeat STEP 7 for all remaining remotes you wish to program (You can program up to 4 remotes total).9. Once you have programmed all your remotes, exit the programming mode by closing the driver’s door, inserting the key into the ignition, start the vehicle, turn it off, and then remove the key.10. Test all remotes to ensure they are functioning. If any did not program, restart the programming procedure from STEP 1 and switch the order in which you are programming the remotes.
