Awesomeness
I’ve been using this handfeeding formula for my baby birds, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the results. The formula is incredibly easy to prepare, simply mixing with warm water to create a smooth, creamy consistency. It’s packed with all the essential nutrients that young birds need for healthy growth, and I’ve noticed a significant improvement in their energy levels and feather development. The 18 oz size is convenient, and it lasts through multiple feedings, making it a great value. I love that it’s designed specifically for baby birds, ensuring they get the right balance of proteins, fats, and vitamins. The formula doesn’t cause any digestive upset, and my birds eagerly accept each feeding without hesitation. Since switching to this brand, I’ve seen a noticeable improvement in their overall health and development. It’s reassuring to know that it’s a trusted product that many breeders and veterinarians recommend. The texture is perfect—not too thick or thin—and it mixes quickly without clumping. I’ve used other formulas in the past, but this one seems to be the best for my flock. It’s also easy to clean up, as there’s no residue left behind in the feeding equipment. Overall, this formula has been an essential part of raising my baby birds, and I highly recommend it to anyone who’s handfeeding their feathered friends.

Best out of a few brands I've compared it to for an underweight older parrot
To understand why Kaytee Exact turned out to be the perfect hand-feeding formula for sustaining my underweight older parrot with digestive issues, I'll preface my review by describing how I'm hand-feeding her. I haven't dared to try using the crop needle method to deliver formula straight into her crop because I don't have experience or training with this method. Instead, using a syringe, I "apply" the formula (which I mix into a mud-like consistency), like toothpaste, to the side of her beak where her upper and lower beak meet. That way the formula slowly slides right in when she opens her beak, and she can anticipate it going in, instead of squirting it straight into her mouth which risks surprising her.Kaytee Exact hand-feeding formula is perfect when using my hand-feeding method because it's easy to get the consistency just right for this. The amount of water I mix in is perfect for her too, because during this episode of digestive difficulties, she wasn't drinking enough water to stay properly hydrated. For the sake of comparison, I found Morning Bird's First Formula, to be very sticky (like honey) when prepared. And to get a thick consistency, I've found that you're better off using hardly any water. What concerned me most about this formula though is that, during the duration of time I tried this formula, it seemed responsible for tinting her urates yellow or pink. I've contacted the company to see if any other customers have reported this and asked, under these circumstances , if it is safe to use. However, it's been over a week and their customer service has not responded to me.Tropican hand-feeding formula also sounded good initially as, one of their claims, is that this formula won't stick to feathers. Upon using it, however, I found that I had to use a lot more water than formula to get the right consistency, and even then the texture was more crumbly so that it was hard to get this formula into my bird's mouth using my technique (finding that I had to poke it in between her beak with a small spoon or the blunt end of a toothpick). This formula might otherwise be great for others who aren't using my technique. So after trying those brands, I returned to using Kaytee for good. Finally, I think the nutrient mix in Kaytee has helped resolve some other possible nutrient deficiencies my parrot has (which my avian veterinarian wasn't able to fully address), as her occasional dry sneezing has ceased (which probably points to her need for more vitamin A), and the probiotics in this formula has helped her digestion. She doesn't strain to poop, and her poops look much healthier now than they had looked in more recent years.

Perfect for baby birds except insectivores.
I have been using this product for a few years now. I work with a pigeon rescue and this miracle mix has saved many lives. I keep it in the freezer so this bag lasts a long time. I take out about one week's worth of food when I have a baby to feed. You just add water and mix. Once it is the consistency of applesauce, you're good to go. I don't heat the water for the older babies, but for the younger ones, it says to add warm water. PLEASE BE CAREFUL - check the water temperature carefully. NOT HOT water, just slightly warm so the chill doesn't upset the baby bird's stomach. Hot water can burn their throats and even kill them. Please don't use hot water. Just "not cold" is sufficient.
