Sour Honey & Soul Food

Love it! This book is so beautifully written! There are reviews here that are clearly trolling, or consist of people who have no idea what they're talking about. He is not trying to be the "male Rupi Kaur", their books have nothing in common. (If you read the book you would actually see that). Just because the word "honey" is in the title doesn't mean there are similarities either. Been following Billy Chapata's craft for years, and his work is nothing short of breathtaking. This book has taught me so much about self love, and looking within. Can't wait for his next one!

This collection of poems is everything and more. I follow Billy Chapata on IG and he’s a local artist from my area so I thought why not support him. I was blown away! The title sour honey and soul food properly describes the collections of poems. Some are sweet and feel like honey to the soul, some are sour like your favorite sour candy, some are both sweet and sour rebuking and consoling; however, don’t be afraid of this process while reading, the former is done gently and the latter is done with love. This fine line that chapata treds causes the reader to take an interspective look on past heart ache and follies. The leaps and turns the mind makes gives you the second part of the title, soul food. Each of these gems are truly food for your soul.

It's a little different size then his others but still great

I've read a lot of poetry books... Some about love, others about self discovery, and a little bit of everything else in between.This book easily stands out from the rest. Every page made you stop and reflect. It's beautiful to get a male perspective in this genre. Every page is carefully crafted and the book as a whole tells a larger story.Rereading it constantly, as I'm always getting new revelations each time.

I never read books as fast as i read this one. It was such an amazing book and opened my mind so much. I already am an independent woman but this book just reminded me to never ever let my guard down and lose my independent characteristic. The book is enlightening and warm. The book made me feel secure and powerful. This book is truly amazing and I’ve recommended it to all my friends. If you haven’t read this book yet you need to now.

I’ve never written a review of a book I’ve read before. That’s just how profound this book was for me. This book was just what I needed in my life while going through a really hard separation. It was just the salve I needed to soothe my aching heart and give me the encouragement to look to the future with hope. It will make its home on my nightstand and when I need a reminder of my infinite power within I will reread it over and over again.

I received this book with what seemed to lol like some sort of oil staining on front and back. I attempted to wipe clean but that didn’t help much. I just received another book today that I ordered by a different author that case in poor condition as well. :/

Amazing. Listened to music, sat outside with a glass of wine and vibed. This book is so applicable to different phases of life, you could easily revisit it again and again. As a woman, it's refreshing to read words from a man who gets it. Encourage you to buy and share.
