Burnt smell but great
Great product but smelled like burnt bacon. I’m assuming it’s from cutting the foam. Still a great product.

Professional quality, gets a lot of use in our house.
This octagon mat is the same kind used at my daughter’s gymnastics gym. She tells me it is for practicing back walkovers. I have also found all of my children using it to just roll; I think it is good for general gross motor activity. The entire mat is very durable from the cover to the padding, to the zippers. We expect it to long outlast our daughter's interest in gymnastics. The cover is wipeable and has a zipper on the side and end. Inside the cover is the foam core.We are very happy with this professional-quality gym piece. It is large but lightweight. If you plan to use it for gymnastics practice, make sure you have mats to use with it to protect from injury.

Good for a small tumbling or gymnastics class.
Our students love it. Well made and easy to clean. Good height for ages 4-11.

It works just not my favorite
I have a small gymnastics program and buy several small pieces of equipment. I purchased this as an extra piece, and it works fine, but I would not choose to buy this mat again.

Helps Build Confidence
This thing is amazing! It’s huge but very lightweight. My 7 yr old can carry it around but yet it doesn’t fail under his weight- it’s firm. It’s great for building confidence for back flips and balance. Not to mention, it’s loads of fun for him. My only complaint is it has this smell. We’ve had it for a week and the odor is still fairly strong. The first couple of days it was almost unbearable. I can’t describe it but it’s just awful. But, like I said the smell is fading so I’m optimistic it will eventually go away completely. It’s 28” tall and 23.5” across.

Useful for back bends, not much else
I also have a Franklin Sports wedge, and a TumbleTrak mat. The 24x24x30 is really huge. It's pretty useless for small kids. You probably have to be at least 8 years old to do much with it. I was really excited to get another gym foam product for my kids playroom, but I was disappointed to discover that an octogon is surprisingly limited in it's use. It's vital for learning how to do things like back bends, but it appears to be a one-hit-wonder product. Unlike a ramp, which is endless fun, this isn't good for much.As for the product build, the vinyl is kind of loose, which surprised me. I expected tighter stitching to the foam. The vinyl of this and my other Franklin Sports is more of a matte finish than my tumbleTrak. We had zero smell issue, which other reviewers mentioned. If you don't have a kid that's working on back walkovers, etc., this might be a dud for you.We absolutely love our tumbletrak gymnastics mat, and it's been a permanent fixture on the floor of our playroom for 2 years now. The octogon might go to the basement.
