Easier to install than I expected
I bought this for a vacation home so if my hot water heater goes, it won’t be catastrophic. It was easier to install than expected. Took me about a half hour. No tools needed. Installing the app was also straightforward. And it worked when tested. No complaints here and I’m happy I purchased it.

Will not pair with wifi
This is the second review I will try to post. Amazon said my first did not meet their rules on posting reviews. The only reason I gave one star is because I tried everything the manufacturer said to do to get the smart module to pair with wifi. Tried to contact the company on their website, no such website, I checked my spelling to make sure I typed the right address. The only reason I bought this brand was for the smart technology. The item will work just fine without wifi, but that is not the point. I bought it for that reason and there is no way to contact them. Not even a phone number.

Peace of Mind But Has Some Shortcomings
I bought this for our hot water heater in the attic. I chose this one because the valve actuator is installed over your existing ball valve. The others require a new valve to be installed with built in actuator. Installation was fast and easy. I deducted 1 star because the app for your phone does not work. There are multiple comments on the App Store about it having not worked in a long time. I’m not expecting to be able to use that functionality. You don’t have to use this part of the kit so it’s not a deal breaker. I do feel the price should reflect a reduction based on that shortcoming.Another note, there is no battery option with this unit. You must have an outlet close by. The listing mentions “no wiring required” but I’m not sure what they’re talking about since you have to plug it in. I plan to add an outlet in the attic for it. Currently using a drop cord. I did not deduct a star for this since the listing does not say there is a battery option but I do feel it was implied.Overall, I do recommend and feel it will work as expected in an emergency.

Difficult Installation with PEX Piping; Difficult to Find Support
This product has very clear and easy instructions for installation, but they don't work if you have PEX (or other non-metallic piping). I had to bend brackets and make other adjustments for the thicker piping material. They didn't seem interested in finding out why it wouldn't work for me. I got it to function and am happy with the operation, but I am concerned about the long-term reliability. Other issues:1. The pressure relief valve sensor only works if the drain line exits close to the hot water heater. If you have an attic hot water heater, the lead won't be long enough.2. It is very difficult to find a place to go of customer support. There is nothing in the manual, box, or other documentation to help find a phone number, email, or chat. After searching the internet, I found you can get support from Voxx International.3. The system works well without the phone app, but I am still having difficulty getting the app to work. That is probably because I am on a 5 GHz rather than the 2.4 GHz network they require, but haven't finished troubleshooting that.4. The documentation is great for installation, but non-existent for troubleshooting, and detailed system description. Outside of the lights used during test of the unit, the Smart Module and Control Module have other lights whose function is not defined.5. The unit should be tested every 3-4 months to be sure the ball valve isn't sticking to the point where the servo motor can close it properly. Not a problem, but be aware of this. The disinterest in finding out why the installation wouldn't work for me, the 2.4 vs 5 GHz, the difficulty finding support, and the incomplete documentation leads me to believe the product is not actively maintained and supported, but I could easily be wrong. (Note: After writing the initial review, the manufacturer confirmed this is a discontinued product. Had I known that, I would have looked for a different solution.)
