For Non-Knife People, These Are Fine
First of all: a true laguiole knife has three distinctive features: 1) the bumble bee on the top, 2) the letter L enclosed in a circle near the heel of the blade and 3) the rivets in the handle are in the shape of a cross. These knives are not laguiole knives though they are made to look like them. That said, these knives are decent. The rosewood handles are attractive though it lacks any burl and knots; the wood is pretty basic and plain -- higher end knives use wood with more variety and grain. These are pretty much the straight grain running from blade to butt of the handle. The steel blade is average, reasonably straight, sharp and polished. I thought these were fine until I happen to handle a set of higher end steak knives in a store over Christmas. The polish and shine on the $200 set of knives I looked at is far greater and more reflective than these.Overall, these are fine if you 1) need a lot of knives or 2) don't really want to spend the bucks to get a more decorative set or 3) don't know where Laguiole is and don't care! In my case, I got what I paid for and what I wanted. My comments are basically to say if you want high end knives, these are not for you.

The best steak knives are NON-SERRATED as these are and sharp ...
The best steak knives are NON-SERRATED as these are and sharp enough to cut through meat like butter. For the money, these are very elegant knives and feel high quality. They arrive plenty sharp enough can be sharpened when needed. The wood is well sealed and does not deteriorate/show use after over a year banging around in my steak knife drawer and cutting meat at company dinners. The metal looks good. That said, these are made in China and are not the real deal. Of course the real deal Laguiole steak knives are $500 - $1,200 for a set of six. Really! The box here is a little funky and gives it away.Mine perform just fine and probably cut my steak almost as well as the real ones. These also feel almost as good in the hand as the real ones - I've held them in the store and of course you can tell the difference but when on the table and not being compared they are more than acceptable, and I am picky about quality stuff.

Not what I was expecting
I had pretty much the same experience as Kecia Kesler. The knife case was coming part on two sides of the bottom edges. The craftsmanship was so so. And originally I was led to believe that the product was French made, but when I received the item, there was a made in China sticker on it. I am returning the item, I don't think it's worth the ~$100 I paid for it.

Not Laguiole, Imported from China
We were disappointed to see the "Made in China" sticker on the box and feel the very light weight of these knives compared to those that we bought in Thiers, France. The design is similar but they are a dramatically inferior product. They are probably only somewhat overpriced for what they are, but they're not Laguiole knives.

I wish I had read all the reviews before purchasing this product!!!
THESE ARE FAKE! Not at all the Laguiole from France. I own several Jean Dubost and purchased those as a gift. How disappointed was I when opening the box and seeing the "made in china" sticker. They are a poor imitation of the real thing and marketing them as "Jean Dubost Laguiole" is not just wrong but deceiving and I am sure plain illegal. They should be removed from the website or at the very least the description should be altered.DO NOT BUY!!!

Disappointed to discover these are not the real thing
Very disappointed to realise these were not real but only imitation with a "made in china" sticker on the box jumping out at me before I even opened the box. These were to be a Christmas present for my father but I can not give them to him as he would laugh at the poor attempt at imitating the Laguiole brand. Very disappointed I didn't take time to read reviews and check this product out better before pressing the "add to chart" button.

Don't buy this!
Since buying these, I've seen this brand more and more in stores. And these ones on amazon are definitely not the real thing. The box says made in China, when the real ones should be made in France. These ones also don't say made in France or have the brand name on the blade. And finally, on closer inspection, the wood handles are not as delicately made as you would expect. Overall, I would say, do not buy these!
