The charger itself worked very well was a good quality piece of kit, easy to install and held securely to the air vent, after over a year of owning the charger the vent clip broke but the Star Map customer service was second to none that I have ever dealt with, they quickly helped with the issue without any fuss and resolved the problem very professionally, I would definately buy from them again in the future.

While this is generally convenient, I would prefer if it stayed open when the car is switched off. It's a minor quirk that doesn't detract from the overall performance but could be an improvement point for future models. A surprising bonus is that the holder seems to have some kind of internal battery. Even with the USB cord unplugged, it can operate a few times, which can be handy in certain situations. The charging speed is impressive, and I've had no issues with overheating or inconsistent charging. It works well with my phone case, eliminating the need to remove it for charging. Good product and the second I’ve purchased in recent months, as I was impressed with the one I bought for my wife’s car. However both have started to not open automatically to clamp and hold the phone when you start the engine. They both now need a helping hand to open up, hence 4 out of 5 stars. The latest purchase is only 1 month old. Otherwise a good solid phone holder which clamps well onto car air vents and charges phones well even with their cases on. Update 15th Jan 26: Contacted seller as the clamping arms stopped completely. Good communication from them, but they sent a different MOKPR replacement (the magnetic circular holder) so that we wouldn’t experience the same problem. Sadly my iPhone 16e just slid off this, as the magnetic hold is too weak. On reading the instructions, it advertises using a MagSafe phone case to work best with this product. So whilst we applaud the seller for their communication and attempt to resolve our issue, it just comes at more expensive for us. We hope our experience helps you consider the purchase of either product.

Bought this to replace a similar unit which broke after 12 months gentle use. The auto close mechanism stopped working. Probably a broken gear inside. Hopefully this one will prove more robust than the other make. So far after a few weeks it is performing flawlessly and keeping my phone charge topped up.

Tried 3 different phones including the latest iphones and a Samsung S23 ultra, but it does not charge any of them.

So far, this phone holder has been excellent. It does a great job keeping my phone securely in place and feels very well built. Honestly, I think the product description should make it clearer that it connects to any 17mm ball mount—that’s a huge selling point and something buyers should know. For context, I previously bought a very expensive phone holder that only lasted a year or two before failing. This one costs about a third of the price and feels just as solid in terms of build quality. I have a 20mm arm in my Bronco, so I used a 20mm-to-17mm ball adapter, and it fit perfectly with the back of this charger. The setup worked so well in my Bronco that I immediately bought a second one to have ready for passengers. At this price point, with this level of quality and compatibility, it’s a fantastic buy.

This is the one! Do not get anything else. It answers all the problems and shortcomings illuminated by my last powered, vent-mount phone holder: 1) The previous one didn't hold the phone well because the arms were mounted to the bottom of the unit and pinched in like a set of tongs. Minimal security. This one has powered supports that come up from the bottom, and in from the sides, parallel -- as in, square, which is the shape of your phone. Holds the phone securely. 2) The previous one didn't open if you forgot to take the phone out of the holder before you turn your car off. This one actually has a capacitor inside that keeps the powered arms functioning for quite a time after it loses power, so you push the button and it opens up. It also closes on your phone after you start the car and the unit receives power. Automatic and intuitive. And the motor is very smooth and almost silent. 3) The previous one did not charge the phone on high charge rate when in the holder. My phone has a plastic cover on it, just like your phone and everyone else's. This one charges at full rate -- in a 45-minute drive using a navigation app with the screen on the whole time, it charged 12% positive. 4) The vent mount on this one is VERY SECURE. There are two thin, cushioned jaws that operate parallel to each other and are held secure by a screwed-on mechanism. It's infinitely more secure than my last one. It hasn't moved a millimeter since I installed it. And it's better for the car -- there's no wear on the vent louvers from an unsecured vent mount. Overall, it's an A+!! And, at the price I paid, an extremely good value. All told, a very, very good product.

Im Grunde ein Top Gerät. Es läd gut sebst mit Hülle klemmung auf top. leider nach knapp 2 Jahren funktioniert der automatische klemmmechanismus nur sporalisch. beim ersten versagen ist natürlich das Handy rausgefallen.

Works well. The only reason that I didn't give it 5 stars is that it doesn't last forever. I went back to my order history and they last a year and then I always buy a new one. Either the button stops working that releases the phone or here lately, it isn't charging anymore. Thankfully in those cases, you can just unplug the mount and plug the charger into your phone.
