Bad pigeon problem. Put up very convincing bobblehead owls and the pigeons sit next to them and build nests. Put one of these up and they move fast, stayed 50feet from him as long as the wind keep him flying, doesn't take much wind, little over 5mph and it's flying makes noise wing flapping noise. Only issue and it's states in the manual is when high winds come it needs to be taken down. Living in the south west desert winds are daily, and excessive wind is more towards the normal. The pole is great and can handle a 60lbs fish. But the string, seems good quality, only lasted 6 hours with wind over 25 mph, might have been the gust which reached 60mph on that day. But cannot tell, the sun is a powerful thing out here.

The instructions are very poor. There is no manual only a very brief, fast moving video. As a result, it didn’t get set up properly and the geese arrived. They didn’t get deterred by it.

Good big kite but it is heavy and needs a gust of wind above 30 knots to stay in the air.

I didn't really expect this to work. I expected it to rip and/or get tangled immediately, but birds were decimating my vineyard and I was desperate. I had this up and flying in a few days and from what I can tell, it seems to be helping to deter birds. It's a little hard to say because I can't monitor the situation all day, but we had heavy bird damage before the kite and only moderate damage after installing it. Also keep in mind that it's not much of a deterrent when it isn't flying and we've had several days with virtually no wind since then, so any further damage may possibly have been incurred on days with no wind. Anyway, it has stayed together and managed to stay mostly tangle free for the past 2 weeks. I say "mostly" because I did have to untangle it twice, but only twice in 2 weeks really isn't that bad if you ask me. By comparison, you can see in the photo above that we have another bird-shaped kite - just a standard kid's kite. I hoisted that one up on a pole but I simply doesn't fly as well as this one. This one will literally take off in just the slightest of breeze, but as you can see in the picture, the standard kids kite does not. Am I confident enough to use this as my sole bird deterrent in the vineyard? Absolutely not. We're also investing in some good quality netting. But for what it is - cheap and easy to set up - it seems to be worth the money.

Florida sun is brutal, will have to keep an eye on UV rays breaking down the string. I reinforced the tip by running 150 braid tied to supplied string, ran braid thru eye tip of pole, put a knot in and wrapped tightly with electrical tape on about 6” of braid . As noted in other reviews the tip has pulled off. If it pulls off on my dock it will never be seen again. Hopefully it will keep the crapping iguanas off of the dock. It’s been flying for 3 days so far with no iguanas and no issues.
