Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicine New Edition: 560 Herbs and Remedies for Common Ailments

This book has so much detail in it about useful herbs and plants. It doesn't just cover the usual ones, but includes heaps of plants, including international ones, that have medicinal value. I have searched for a book like this for years. I'd say this is the most complete I've found. It does have photographs of a lot of plants, but not all. Details of how to use the plants are great. There are also recipes for making teas, tisanes, tincture, ointments etc and an ailment list with plant cures. I really love this book, I have learned so so much.

Very good book! Every household needs it! I bought this book second time. First I bought it for a friend a a Christmas present and recently I got it for myself. High quality photos and content! I have been interested in herbs and using them for a few years, and this book is the best I have got so far. It has a lot more information than any other books I have read so far. It contains a lot more herbs than any other books and the information about them covers a lot of aspects of growing and using herbs in the home environment. Considering the fact that is a hard cover book and with high quality photos and paper, I think the price is extremely good.

Wow, packed full of great herbal information and very well laid out. There are lots of high quality images of herbs (not all sadly) which really helps you to identify herbs with confidence. Only slight criticism is, the print font used is tiny but that doesn't detract from the overall quality of this book. Highly recommend if you are serious about growing your herb knowledge (no pun intended)

Great content - though why they thought it was a good idea to alphabetise/order by Latin names is beyond me, very annoying and just makes it harder to find the information you need.

A well written book, and an asset for any herbalist, experienced or not. You are never too old, or too young, to learn.

I already have the original Herbal Remedies by Andrew Chevallier but I am more than delighted with this updated version. It is a beautiful book, full of interesting information, not just on the herbs but also the history of herbal medicine. There are nearly 50 pages describing how herbal medicine developed in different countries, which is fascinating. Each herb is described in detail, followed by their key preparations and uses and the illustrations are beautiful. I already have several books on Herbal Medicine but I think this one will become my favourite.

This is a must-have for anyone venturing into herbs and herbal medicine. This is perfect if you want to start practicing and mixing herbs. I love that you can find herbs from pretty much every corner of the globe covered in this book. My only frustration is when I've leant something and want to put it into action, I sometimes can't find anywhere to buy the herbs concerned.
