this tiller kicks butt
i love this tiller....its super light but it still gets at it really well...tills up rocks up to about soft ball size fairly well...helps if you presoak any ground that is really hardened before tilling it....no gas required and it goes every time you pull the trigger...anyone can control it easily cuz it's not a 200 pound gas guzzling beast...and it is light enough to hang it on a wall no problem...can't do that with a gas powered tiller...is it what you want to till 20 acres every year?...no...does it easily till half a back yard every year?...so far it does...get one...you'll love it ...and it is very reasonably priced

I am impressed with how light weight but efficient this 20 inch is for an electric.
I have had a small elc16 inch older one, but this new 20 inch is more stable and does not bounce around as much. It was actually much easier to use than the smaller one and much faster getting the job done. I am a 125 lb over 60 year old female and it was not too hard on me using it for hours, but I am used to farm work. It has a lot of power for an electric and so light weight. I am well pleased, it did a fast good job on my very large garden area, I just wish the tines were a little bigger for getting the deeper roots.Thank you, I am very happy with it and it always starts, not having to mess with dirty gas and oil, and not spending half my time pulling and pulling trying to start.

Powerful enough for a home garden and easy to use
I bought this because the price was right ($145) and renting them from Home Depot had become too much of a hassle. This Scott model is an exact duplicate of a very popular model from China that usually sells for about $180 under a couple of different brand names.Assembly is not too bad. Just look carefully at the drawings.Once assembled, it did a very good job turning over the soil to a depth of 5 or 6 inches. It was not quite as deep as the Mantis that I used previously, but good enough. At 11 inches wide, it could be used as a cultivator to get rid of leaves, if you're careful. All in all a good purchase for me, as a 78-year-old who loves to garden.

Nice little garden tool
lol very easy to use! Came with 2 batteries so you can change out when it runs low. Great for in between garden rows and flower beds. Not for tilling deep or large gardens but very useful.

who would have thpught that a lightweight tiller would do so well
I bought this to replace a cranky older gas powered rototiller. I had seen someone convert a gas tiller to electric with a 1hp, 120volt electric motor. it worked well and i considered doing the same but came across this tiller and needed one now. I saw this and was skeptical about it clearing sod and all to make a new 12' x 25' garden bed. It worked well, above my expectations, and no gas to deal with, no carburetor or gas tank to clean, no oil to change etc...........being lighter makes it easy to maneuver and store but with that comes that it takes a little bit longer to get the job done since it is lighter and requires a second pass to get the dirt just right.

Arrived broken
Assembled the tiller only to find that it wouldn't start. Ok, slightly frustrated. Checked the power cord and outlet. All working. Next, I take the power assembly apart to find the 5 cent piece of plastic that serves as a plunger to make starting connection is broken. Searched the manufacturer website for replacement part. Nothing. Called the Scott's customer service number. After much searching for the model number, I'm told this tiller is actually made by American Lawn Mower and I'm given their number. At this point, I've lost hours of my life to this process and the weeds in my garden are mocking me. I call American Lawn Mower and told they can't do anything over the phone but I can submit a claim on their website. All lovely people but grrrrr. The actual process to submit a claim online is easy enough with a copy of receipt. I received a comparable Earthwise battery powered tiller within a week. That's the only positive part of my experience and thus one star. The Earthwise tiller is smaller and less powerful than Scott's (American Lawn Mower) tiller but gets the job done. Battery lasts about 15 minutes. I have a large garden area and ordered the corded tiller to avoid frequent battery charges. Another positive is that it arrived broken and didn't happen a few months later after the manufacturer's warranty had expired. Definitely would not purchase again.

Light Weight, but Handy!
I like this little rototiller. It is not very powerful, but is exactly what I need and is sooooo convenient! I already have raised beds with fairly good dirt, so it is perfect for my situation. If you need to break fresh ground with it, it is probably not powerful enough. It also gets jammed if it comes into contact with small to medium rocks. I knew what I was getting when I ordered it, and so far really love the thing!

Wheel release problem
The button on back of tiller didn’t release the button, like it was suppose too. Pinched and cut my husband finger, he had to get stitches. The tiller works good and tills hood but the wheels don’t go up and down like it was suppose too.
