I have tried other Vit D supplements and end up having to to take prescription strength. But these are wonderful. As long as I take them all winter my vit D levels stay normal. I had gastric bypass 20+ years ago so my absorption is less. This brand has been the best by far and I have tried many brands. I like they use coconut oil. I don't know price wise to compare. But I don't think they are overpriced. I honestly choose them because they work well. No weird smells. And no funky taste noted.

Vitamin absorption is tricky. Not all vitamin supplements can be easily absorbed by the body, especially the Vit-D enzyme. Nutrition is the best way to get vitamins, but sometimes you can still have deficiencies. I've been taking these for a while. Over the course of 2 separate annual blood tests, I did an experiment. The 1st time, I did not stop taking them to see test blood results. The 2nd time, I stopped taking them about 2 weeks before my bloodwork to see what would happen. (Of course, I compared these to my baseline of no Vit-D supplement ;) ) The 1st set of results had me on the higher end of the general average (aka reference range). The 2nd time had me right in the middle of the range. I concluded that these vitamins are being absorbed and used by my body. (I have also taken other Vit-D supplements that did not show any affect in blood tests. ) I am a generally healthy person, so I cannot report significant changes in hair growth or mental clarity. However, I do believe these help with my immunity. I also want to take care of my bones as I age. I like that these are made with coconut-MCT, as opposed to soybean oil, gelatin and glycerin. These are pricier than the average brand, but knowing they are made with better ingredients and actually work make it worth it. (Especially if you can avoid getting the annual cold) If it helps, these are small, orangish-yellow gel caps, easy to swallow, with no aftertaste or side-effects.
