Built very good
I liked how easy it is to use and it looks and feels like it will last.

Good chain breaker, but...
I have a Park CT-5 chain breaker too. Ice breaks chains easier as the throw/screw down is longer. Also, the longer handle fits better in my hand than the "V" shaped Park handle. Could have popped for one with a molded handle but not for the xtra bucks. I'm no bike mechanic popping chains often so see no need for one. With the Park if you need to remove the chain pin completely you need to move the chain twice, the last last closer to the pin head. The reason for this is it wasn't designed to push the pin completely out, something you must be careful not do, unless you do, with the Ice.One major problem with the Ice is finding a replacement pin. With the Park, I can go to my LBS and pick one up for $2. Yeah, the tool pins break at the least opportune moment.Overall a decent tool for the money. Now to locate a replacement pin!

Bike Mechanic Verdict: Not a real tool; don't buy
I bought the tool on the strength of the reviews. Silly me. The photo of the tool is artfully taken to hide its weakness as a chain tool.In short, do not buy this tool. Mine is going back.I've worked in bike shops and I know a real tool. If you want a bike that will work well, this tool is worthless. You don't have to spend a fortune to get a real tool that has the basics, which this tool does not include. You see, all real chain tools have a two step process. One piece holds the chain so you can remove the rivet and shorten the chain or put the rivet back in to make the chain into a loop again. The problem is that after you put the rivet in, you need the second part of a tool to unfreeze the chain. You put the chain there in this second place and then twist the lever just slightly to unfreeze the link's rivet you just installed. This tool does NOT have that option to unfreeze that link in the chain. So while the chain will be put back together, that link in the chain will not move well, which leads to slipped shifts and the chain generally not working well.Look at a real chain tool and you will see all of them have two places to lay the chain. One to install and one to unfreeze the link. You have to look very carefully at this picture to see this one does not have both.Final warning: for those of you who are not bike mechanics, the tool comes with no instructions. Another oversight.

Bike chain tool
This was relatively low priced, easy to use, and appear to be well made. I've only used it to remove the bike chain so far and it worked without a glitch. I would expect it would function just as well when I'm ready to install the new replacement chain. (Bike was stripped down for thorough restoration...rust removal, repaint of frame, cleaning and re-greasing all bearings and moving parts.)I am upgrading my rating to 5 stars on the basis that I had withheld the 5th star only because I had not begun to use the tool to install the new chain yet. Upon installing the new chain, I discovered the chain only used a link plate and clip. Without needing to use the tool to install the chain, the tool is considered functional without a glitch, and in fact was easy to use. I completely recommend its purchase without hesitation.

works great and the price is right
Finally decided to start my own bike maintenance to save some $$$. Needed to install a new chain and with some quick research realized a chain tool like this is a necessary item to shorten the new chain to properly fit your particular bike. This product is very straightforward to use and is of good quality; for someone like me who will be using it on my own bikes, it was a must-have. It also costs significantly less than many other similar tools; while I initially had a concern that the price difference would equate to a performance/quality difference, after using this product I feel confident that it is perfectly sufficient for the do-it-yourself bike mechanic (like me) who works on just their own bikes, and with the proper care it should last a lifetime. I would recommend it and would purchase it again.

Gets the job done, but not a long term solution
This tool is cheap and works ok. However, i cannot recommend this as a good solution if you need it more than once. The second time, the tool froze up and I couldnt get it un-frozen no matter how much lubricant I put on it.Pros:This would be a decent tool to keep with your bike in the case you need to fix a chain on the go. Its lightweight and small.Cons:No long term durability or reliability. If you need a tool for many uses or just like to own tools like I do, I would recommend: Park Tool USA Professional Chain Tool CT-3, 10-Speed CompatibleI bought this one when the cheaper one broke. Its not cheap ($30), but its really solid and the action is very smooth.

Very pleasant to use; small, compact
Very pleasant to use; small, compact. Had a Park professional chain tool that broke that cost over twice as much. More pleased with this tool; does the job, and if it breaks won't be out much money. Works with modern narrow chains, which caused me trouble using a cheaper chain tool. Recommended. Some have complained of lack of wedge to loosen chain link. I do not find that a problem; simply use tool on other side of chain, tightening a partial turn; link loosened.

Worked perfectly and effortlessly
Count the number of sprockets (gears) on the back wheel of your bike. Then order the chain that matches the number of sprockets. For example, I have 7 sprockets, so I ordered a 6/7/8 chain. If the chain you order lists between 7 and 10, this is your tool. The tool should match the chain, not the number of sprockets you counted. For example, if you counted 6, and ordered a 6/7/8 chain, this tool will work with that chain because the chain fits a bike with 7 sprockets and this is a 7-10 tool. The fact that you have 6 sprockets isn't a problem, as long as you don't order a 5/6 chain.Worked perfectly and easily and will last forever. I just used it. Highest recommendation.
