Middle Earth and Lord of the Rings Series 12-book Collection Set by J.R.R. Tolkien Mass Market Paperback – January 1, 2021

As good as any paperback can be. For anyone wondering, yes, maps are included, though these are for the most part the only illustrations. Those with bad eyes might need a magnifying glass to be able to read them, though.There are some who reported that the binding broke, and books falling apart. I can only think that these people were the sort that bend the pages back like it is a magazine. Of course the binding isn't going to hold up against such abuse.As long as you handle with care, as I was taught to do with all books, you should be fine.The only other thing I can see being a serious issue is that the print is rather small.All in all, a great lot of good reading for the price.

My 13 yr old grandson is a voracious reader and is loving JRR Tolkien. This was his most favorite Christmas gift this year! Packing was great and sturdy and he has read through the first 4 books (in chronological order) already! We sit and enjoy a lengthy conversation every time I see him about his love for the storyline! Fills this old fantasy grandma reader’s heart with joy! ♥️♥️♥️

I went out of state and completely misunderstood what my husband wanted on the 'souvenir' list. A list I had practically forced him to make since I'd be away for a week having fun while he'd be stuck at home doing the day-to-day. I made my stops at the bookstores and (I cant emphasize this enough) *confidently* passed up all the paperback copies I found. I quickly learned that I had messed up. I did get some good-natured ribbing on the fact that I'd been so adamant and eager to get him something, then completely drop the ball. Until I caved and let him know that I had panic-bought this collection. I doubt I'll ever live it down, and the memory will stare me in the face for as long as these books adorn our bookshelf.In any case: Each book is in excellent condition and was well packaged. They came tightly bound together with no chance of bending. They are all the same size, so they look very nice on the bookshelf as well. The spines all match, with a slight variation for the Lord of the Rings trilogy (similar to the cover). Other than that, my husband has been busy reading and thoroughly pleased by this collection. The inclusion of the Lost Tales and the Silmarillion were definite bonuses. Very quick delivery!I wouldn't have been able to get the whole collection at any of the bookstores I went to, nor were the ones I had found the same size, spine design, or condition. I searched for hours on Amazon to find something similar, and this was the best option by far. Very happy with it!

The packaging was nicely done, the books were tightly wrapped. I am very pleased with the condition the books arrived in, love the color scheme.

Sent as a gift, and receiver is very happy with it. Wish I'd received it back in my teens (1960s). I had to buy each independently, and never read all these. The, I suppose one could say, full 'history of Middle Earth'.

Great to get all of these books at a low price! Hard to find them all together like this.
