Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales [Blu-ray]

Better audio & visuals over the bluray or DVD disc's. Not saying that the other versions are bad. Just to buy the disc version that will be best optimized on your setup. As of this review, the advertised expired digital code still works.

I love the Pirates of the Caribbean movies!! Didn't have this one!!!

At first viewing, I loved this film. I thought it was good that it had a different story than previous films, but it lacks the same heart as those.Jack Sparrow is being hunted by a ghost captain and his crew that he trapped in the devil's triangle (which was shown in the trailer so no spoilers) who is utterly obsessed with revenge against Jack for killing him and his crew. Captain Salazar was hellbent on destroying ALL pirates, but Jack was the one who outsmarted him. Salazar is consumed with vengeance and will stop at nothing to get it.Joining Jack as he attempts to rid himself of his ghost stalkers is Henry Turner (son of Will and Elizabeth from the original trilogy of films) who is equally obsessed with his quest to break Will's curse that binds him to the Flying Dutchman (if you don't know what I'm referring to, watch previous films first), and Carena Smith who is self-educated in astronomy and who is also on a quest to find the trident of Poseidon (which would also lift Will's curse) using notes in a journal left to her by her father (but the film doesn't explain why she wants it or what she would use it for).Now here is where this film bothers me. Jack looks and sounds like himself (portrayed by Johnny Depp) but seems like a VERY different character. It was only after watching this film a 3rd time that it truly seems like I'm not really watching Jack Sparrow but rather someone else who looks and sounds like him in voice and appearance only. His personality seems slightly changed; he has become a bumbling drunk and doesn't have any plans about what to do anymore. His humor is lacking the same charm it once had, and he seems more afraid of these ghosts than he was of Davy Jones (whom he feared most of all). He has lost his former crew, and his beloved ship, the Black Pearl. He seems like he has given up on life, and that just isn't Jack. He always has a plan, and never gives up. He showed himself to be the most honorable and beloved of all other characters throughout the series up to this film. I didn't notice any point of this film in which Jack got to show that honorable side. He was just a bumbling idiot running away from ghosts. In a way, this film disrespected the character and legacy of Jack Sparrow, and even Johnny Depp seems to not be into the role the same way in this film.He's a man lost in this world without purpose, but he has also lost the charm he had in previous films that made him so iconic.Barbossa doesn't seem like his former self either. He's now an aged pirate living off the fat of his wealth he's acquired but doing little else. The only point of this film that sees Barbossa really do anything is the ending...It's disheartening to see both Jack and Barbossa behave so differently and changed so drastically in their own franchise (much like how Disney ruined the legacy of the Original Trilogy characters in their trash trilogy).Overall, I rate this film a 3/5 for its acting, special effects, and nostalgia, but it's definitely my least favorite of the series for the lackluster story and drastic differences I saw in how Jack and Barbossa are portrayed.Watch for yourself and make your own assessment. It IS at least worth watching.God bless.

Ya cuento con la coleccion de piratas del caribe en bluray pero a ese precio y siendo 4k no podia dejar de pasar la oportunidad. la imagen y el audio son geniales, la unica queja que tengo es que la copia digital se vencio un dia antes de que llegara mi paquete asi que no la pude descargar por mas que hice el intento. si eres un fan de la saga de piratas del caribe te la recomiendo.

Enjoyed this as much as the others. The plot neatly tied up the whole story.

If you are a fan of the series you wont be disappointed. Captain Jack is running out of puff however in what you hope is the last Pirates movie. Enjoyable nonetheless.
