iPax Portable Speaker System for iPod shuffle - 5087

Am I the only one having this problem? Purchased it instead of looking for a charger to replace my broken one. Every thing written about this unit says it will charge the shuffle, but it doesn't. I even pulled out the usb adapter and plugged it right into my pc and it still wouldn't charge it.Read thru the manual and it didn't mention anything about charging the shuffle, it just says that in the description of the item everywhere it is sold. So people, if it does charge it, what am i doing wrong?

It did take a bit of time to figure out how to use it although it appeared to be quite simple at first. The instructions say that the iPod Shuffle need not be turned on if the speakers are plugged in but after struggling with it for a while I realized that the Shuffle had to be turned on or otherwise there will be no sound coming out from the speakers.But after you figure out how to work it, it is actually a very good product. There are several speakers for Shuffle out there but the prices are often higher than the price of the Shuffle or for the cheaper versions, they don't sound very good at all. This one, however, is excellent. The size makes it truly portable. The sound is great. I think it is plenty loud for speakers this size, and the quality is very good. If you are not looking for Bose quality (then again, why would you for the price you pay for this one), then this is truly excellent. I was very apprehensive at first, but I am convinced. This is worth your money and you will enjoy it very much.One drawback is that, since it has a place for everything (storing the shuffle itself and the ear piece), there is no place to store the electric cord and plug. I will mention that it does take batteries if you are travelling in the car or so. It would be nice though if for later version they can include an adapter for the car as well.

I am sorry I ordered the iPax portable speaker the sound is terrible. A giant waste of money.

This thing is really good except it DOES NOT CHARGE!! The box says it charges and everything on the packaging says it charges the ipod, but it doesn't. It is a very nice for the money. THe sound is good for the price. I bought it for my child's room and it is very good for that. I would not use it at a party. It was difficult to get to work at first. We had to plug earplugs into it and remove them before the sound would come out.

I bought this for my wife along with a new 4th gen shuffle. When I saw the small size of the speakers, I was a little concerned about what it would sound like. We had to wait a while to try it out because the 4th gen shuffle needs the belkin adapter to work with this (why apple built the controls into the headphone wires I'll never understand). But when we tried it out, we were pleasantly surprised at the sound. Is it going to blow you away with a big stereo sound? No, but that's not the intent. It's super for portabile speakers with your shuffle or mp3 player. Exactly what my wife was after.

I was skeptical about this speaker set given how small it was but in light of the scarce choices for ipod shuffle speakers, I bought this and I must say I was really surprised at how clean and loud these little speakers are. I first tried it on the higher output setting, which I don't recommend because you get more hissing that way. On the normal setting, it sounds great. The package overall is well made and somewhat heavier than I anticipated, which was a welcomed surprise. No, I don't recommend this if you're going for a really loud speaker system, but it's terrific for travel and whenever you want your shuffle mix without the headphones. Also, it's really neat how the shuffle fits perfectly into the slot for storage.

The current price is an absolute rip-off. This is a warning for potential buyers. I bought this product a year ago for 1/10th the price. The product is not worth even that price. It has horrible static, interferes with any electronic nearby, even an ipod. Can't believe its still on the market, that too at 10 times the price.

Arrived as described. Amazing sound quality for such tiny speakers. I am totally looking forward to taking this camping with me. My 4GB, newest iPod Shuffle didn't want to hook up to the provided port, but worked fine when plugged into the side (with the iPod provided USB/3.5MM hook up). VERY CHEAP!!! Highly recommended just for the great value. I could have easily paid three times as much and gotten a crappy product. No verdict as to how long the batteries will last, because I haven't had to use it for long periods of time yet. Camping is yet to come...Update:I used mine daily for long periods for a couple of years. I used it so much that the wires connecting at the hinge have loosened, so the sound has suffered greatly. It did pretty well on batteries considering how much I used it. These speakers had surprising volume capabilities and good sound, so I'm sad about the wires being damaged. I think I paid between $30 and $40 for mine originally, my sister miraculously found hers at Grocery Outlet for $12 each (I should've stocked up!). Now that mine is no longer working properly, I'd really like to replace it, but the price of these speakers has gone up drastically! Sounds like everyone figured out how nice they were...
