This thing is even more beautiful than the photo shows. It's perfectly finished painted wood, and the grinder mechanism is everything it should be -- you can actually adjust the grind, unlike most other peppermills I've had, which generally only let you adjust the amount of residue it dumps on the counter where it sits. The company seems to be in Italy, and the leaflet inside notes that, yet nowhere on the item or packaging does it actually say made in Italy. But it certainly looks and feels like it was. This is top-end functional art.
