It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown[Orange Pumpkin Shaped 33 1/3rpm LP]

Bought this record to start getting into the Autumn/Halloween spirit since where I live we don't have many seasons. This record is very nice and I love how it's shaped like a pumpkin! The songs on the record are nice, however, I do agree with others who have mentioned that the songs sometimes seem repetitive. Other then that I am very happy with my purchase!

I love Vince Guaraldi's work, both for the Charlie Brown TV specials, but also his standalone work.The original recording session tapes for the It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown were recently unearthed and made available by Craft Recordings, a division of Concord Records. This release was greatly anticipated by his fans, particularly since the music had only been previously been released with dialogue cues. This was the first time to hear the music alone.There's certainly some excellent music here, but some of it has already been heard on the Charlie Brown Christmas album, although some of the music has been re-arranged a bit, not all to great benefit, as some of it uses instrumentation particular to that "hip" period.But there are a number of musical cues that are repeated over and over again. This is not as compelling a listen as the Christmas album.Soundwise, I can’t speak for the 45rpm single-LP release. That was meant for the best sound. This one was meant to be a cute presentation, with the 33 rpm LP die-cut in the shape of a pumpkin. And it's cool and unusual.But there's a sterility to the sound. While the original tapes were analog, this was clearly digitally mastered. Digital mastering of analog tapes can be done well, but if not, one of the downsides is that it can take some of the life and warmth out of the music. And this record sounds very dry. The music still has good body, but it's not as full, rich, and colorful as the best, and even as much as other Guaraldi Fantasy Records releases (the label under which Guaraldi recorded and is now owned by Concord Records).So a mixed bag here. If you want the best sound, you may want to go for the 45rpm vinyl. But musically, I listened to it twice when I got it, and I don't think I'd pull it out too often.

The packaging caught me by surprise. I was expecting a full album jacket instead of just a plastic cover. But overall the pumpkin shaped album itself was great. Good quality.

I preordered this vinyl over summer and it arrived earlier than expected!! It’s such a cute piece for my record collection. I love it’s shape, color, case, and it sounds great! One thing though, if your record player has an automatic arm like mine, don’t use it!! It totally slipped my mind that this record is shaped like pumpkin, not a typical circle record. So my arm scratched around the rim of it😅 Not a problem, just automatically place your arm for this one!

I have been watching this most years for a very long time. My son bought the vinyl album, which is shaped like a pumpkin. I literally sat at my kitchen table while it was on our fancy stereo and saying all the words, obnoxiously loud. It was just absolute joy.

Who doesn't like the Peanuts cartoons? Boring folks. lol jkThe music is classic and jazzy! Great tunes for a chill time and in the shape of a pumpkin!Very cool!

Very nice packaging, with excellent liner notes and a crisply cut pumpkin orange vinyl record. The music of Vince Guaraldi is the star of the show here— and it sounds better than ever.

I have to say, it was shipped and delivered fast. It was packaged well and safe. The record plays amazingly and sounds even better than expected. I love the pumpkin shape vinyl and fits perfectly!
