Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen - Standard Edition - PlayStation 4

When this game was originally released on the 360 and PS3, I was too into Skyrim to care. I subsequently forgot about it, until it was free on PS Plus a few years later. Once I finally got around to playing it, I realized I missed out on what would become one of my all-time favorite games. The only thing holding it back on the PS3 was the frame rate (I got as low as 9 FPS!) and the black bars at the top and bottom (an attempt to help with the frame rate). Of course, the PS4 version is silky smooth and the black bars are gone.The game itself is an open world western style RPG, where you create not only your character, but a follower as well. You can however have multiple followers. So, how does that work you ask? No, there are no in-game NPCs to follow you, you actually choose characters created by other players! This is one of the few multiplayer features I've ever liked and I don't believe it requires PS Plus.The world is very big and only loads in towns (like Skyrim). The monster battles though are the best thing. They work sort of like Shadow of the Colossus, where you scale them and attack their weak points. What I found to work best if one person climbing the monster, one shooting it with arrows and one using magic.Dragon's Dogma even has romance, although the system is a bit quirky. (I won't spoil anything). Overall, it's a must have. (I bought it 4 times!)

I was looking for something to fill my souls game niche and although this isn't a souls game it has some great elements of a superb RPG. The pawn system is much better than DoD. My only complaint is I wish the menu for map/quest tracking was redesigned, it seems a bit convoluted at times. The gameplay and story are excellent though. Keeps you coming back for more. I don't know how this game got overlooked, but it's probably one of Capcoms greatest titles. Hoping for a PS5 remake or another similar style from Capcom for next gen systems.

Still one of the best action-RPGs around. Kind of a weird story and boring quests, but the game is much more action based than games like Skyrim or Witcher 3, and does have a better combat system than either of them. Although, I am baffled why they couldn't achieve 60fps with this version. That's the biggest disappointment here. But otherwise, the game itself is brilliant, runs a stable (if disappointing) framerate, and is tons of fun. It's a good time to revisit or, as a newcomer, to finally dive in.Now if only Capcom would stop simply porting this game and just make the sequel that so many people desire. Seems like a no-brainer.

I like that this a game where I can become a knight and go on a knightly adventure and the character creation is cool 😎 too I even get to wield different kinds of swords 🗡️

I read several reviews, looked online at various game sites, etc. I am a self-employed web-developer so I spend a LOT of time working and my game time is limited so I wanted to research a game that I could really get in to and play for a while rather than just buying to try it out and getting bored.All the research said this was an awesome game and if I enjoyed certain other titles (Elder Scrolls series, Diablo series, etc) that I would likely enjoy this too. Because many of the reviews mentioned the same games that I loved, I probably had my hopes to high and was a little let down.I only put in about 40 hours but even at that it comes out to 50 cents an hour of time/money so definitely can;t complain. As soon as something else caught my attention, I had no problem putting the game down. The game play, in and of itself, was not bad. I found the loot grabbing system a bit wonky and hard to see (even after adjusting contrast, etc). The battle system was not complex and easy to grasp but I felt there could have been more to it. Where I felt this game really failed was the upgrade system. Upgrading weapons and armor was not intuitive and took a bit to figure out.One thing I did enjoy was having the ability to let others use your toon (character) to fight in their game and when you updated (slept at inn, etc) your character would come back with new knowledge. The honor system of giving used toons stuff to bring back with them fails as no one ever sends stuff back. Luckily, the experience and quest knowledge they brought back was typically useful.All i all, a good game for under $20, but don't be surprised if something else new and shiny catches your eye and you forget all about it.

Had this for the ps3 but the frame rate was all over the place sometimes. This version is cleaner looking and runs smoothly on my ps5.

Las primeras 24 horas de juegos puedo decir impresionante...Las batallas son tan fluidas que es muy exitante.El gran continente que tiene que recorrer es a la vieja escuela, no hay Fast travel ni ningún animal que facilite el viaje, a esto puede tener un inconveniente ya que si parece a los viejos JRPG el problema es que son pocas la diversidad que envuelve el mundo se repite ciertos enemigos y lo hace algo bajo en ese aspecto, muy pocos cavernas que recorrer,pero que quede claro que cada batalla es muy divertida y la selección de cada clase es muy distintivo, llegará un punto en el que querrás especializarte en una clase o simplemente practicar con otros y con el mismo personaje main.Simplemente un 8/10 excelente juego que quedarás clavado

Con el anuncio de Dragon's Dogma 2 es una forma perfecta de prepararse.
