I knew what I wanted. A towel this isn't thick like a bath towel. It needs to be flexible for washing/drying dishes and cleaning the countertops. This is absolutely perfect. The waffle weave is just right, not too thick and textured like others I have. The texture on this normal thickness dish towel helps with scrubbing. If anything I'd say the size is almost too big, but I can certainly turn this into 2 or 3 cloths. If you are worried about absorbancy you will want to give them a good wash with no soap and no dryer sheet, those will detract. You can add a touch of borax to the washer or a tiny amount of bleach. The absorbancy is great once that is done.
