Speedy service. Good format
Ordered the book to read the play and practice scenes before an audition to play a role. Timely arrival. Practiced well. Maybe next time for the part.

Brilliant play about dementia
Am directing this play, The Father, next season for an international theater company.

Disappointed with The Mother
I have seen both The Father and The Son of the Zeller trilogy both of which I thought were terrific. So I was anxious to read The Mother. Sorry to say, I was disappointed with it; definitely not up to the standards of the other two.

An amazing experience.
An amazing experience... frighting and compelling at the same time. A lifetime stripped to the bone by the ravages of time. "The Father" reaches us all and begs for answers.

Five Stars
I found "The Father" incredible and am using it to develop a character with dementia for a monologue.

Great play. Great author. Old themes treated refreshingly. Under a new light.

Both excellent
I actually prefer The Mother to The Father, though I am willing to believe the rave reviews for the latter. I haven't seen either play. I think the Mother excellent because of the device Zeller uses of repeating dialogue/ units of action to deepen our understanding of the marital conflict & essentially Mother's unhappiness. The play revolves round her inability to let her son live his life. She loves him too much. I think Ayckbourn did it better in Woman in Mind, but then WIM is a full length play with alot more characters. Both the Mother & Father play somewhat shorter . Essentially the study of mental fragility is the theme explored. Both plays, as in WIM, leave us in no doubt that the protagonist is headed for some form of care facility, though in The Father it is obvious he will never recover from dementia, At the end of The Mother, we can imagine that her mental state may change. Sadly I feel it is impossible to imagine her happy.

Brilliant plays - ideal Christmas present
I love both of these plays - as does the friend I've seen them with, seemed an ideal Christmas present (probably at less than the price of a program)

highly recommended!
These short plays are profoundly affecting from a writer of such young age, highly recommended!
