Here is my reproductions of the mechanical grinders that some of our grandparents would have used with the exception that the grinding surfaces are made of ceramic. It is solid and functional, let alone aesthetically pleasing. It will also add that rustic touch, let alone make a great conversation piece. To me, you get to enjoy the coffee twice with one of these. Once while you grind the coffee, the other when you drink the coffee. This is a burr grinder, which crushes the coffee bean, while others cut it. The grinder itself is screwed on to an old salvaged pint canning jar. The jar it's self is a nice bluish green and within the glass jar, you'll find bubbles. The front of this jars says: "Atlas - Strong Shoulder - Mason". With this grinder I used a solid piece of red oak. Finished with multiple coats of shellac, then with a wax and hand buffed. The overall height of this grinder is 13" tall. The base is a quart size glass canning jar approximately 4" square. Cleaning and operating instructions come with each coffee grinder. The coffee grinder that is shown will be the one you will receive. For a smaller box to ship with, I removed the handle. The handle has to be removed to adjust the grinding and reinstalled.
