My child's favorite book / El libro favorito de mi hijx
A delightful book in Spanish and English that promotes cultural learning through the universal language - food.My second-grader LOVES this book and the whole recipe-poem series by Jorge Argueta. We read the books together and also make the recipes. We love Argueta's lyrical descriptions, and also the child-centered illustrations with quirky details. We bought copies of all Argueta's books to donate to our elementary school library.

Make Soup With Kids and Read A Good Book
This mostly picture book is sweet and indeed pays homage to comfort food. The pictures are large, in fact one page size, with muted colors. The authors poetry is short but it is sweet as each step of making bean soup is explained. What I liked most about this, as with his other books, is that the poetry is in Spanish and English.I think that is truly wonderful for children who are bilingual or those children who may be learning a second language. Now, I want to go make some bean soup! The author does caution, as I do, for kids to make soup with the help of an adult.Awesome book and well worth the read. 4 stars.Disclosure: I purchased a copy of this book for my own collection. The review here is 100% my own and may differ from yours. ~Naila Moon

Imaginative and fun!
This is a lovely book! My son isn't wild about beans or cooking but after reading this he wants to make the soup. It is very imaginative and uses colorful language. Excellent for learning new words in either language while enjoying a fun read.
