The Edgy Veg: 138 Carnivore-Approved Vegan Recipes
L**E
A fun, creative, and cheeky cookbook! It's just as much fun to read as the Edgy Veg You Tube channel is to watch!
I've been following Candice's Edgy Veg YouTube channel since I first became vegan about four-and-a-half years ago, and just love all of her videos and recipes! I pre-ordered this cookbook a few months ago, and am so happy I did. Although it just showed up today, I've made three of the recipes so far, and all three were easy and, best of all, delicious. The Edgy Veg specializes in converting comfort food into vegan staples, and this cookbook captures a great combination of staples with creative twists and of entire new flavor combos that I haven't seen elsewhere.Since Amazon doesn't yet have the "Look Inside" feature available for this book, I'm posting two photos: one of the main page for a sub-section and one that shows what the full-page photos look like. Here's also an overview of its main chapters:* #Basic(s) -- contains recipes for pizza dough, gnocchi, seitan "chicken," and other staples* Brunch: The Hangover Story -- has recipes for things like pancakes, Veggs Benny, and Chive and Sriracha Beer Waffles* Souper Natural -- contains recipes for pho, ramen, chili, pumpkin-sage soup, and onion soup, amongst others* Not-Boring Salads -- includes the Cobb Your Enthusiasm Salad, the Naked Burrito, and a Buffalo Caesar recipe* Munchies -- includes samosas, Kimchi Fries, Buffalo Cauliflower Wings 7 Ways, Mason-Dixon Crab Melt, and more* The Main Squeeze -- this is the largest section (which I was happy about since I always love making new entrees), and includes recipes for things like Perfectly Pleasing Pesto Pizza, Half-Baked Mac and Cheese, Better Than Ever Veggie Dogs, No Fuss BLTs, and other main dishes* On the Side -- has recipes for Fish-Free Kimchi, Brussels Sprouts that Don't Suck, Garlicky Green Beans to Keep the Vampires Away, and more* Thirsty Girl -- has a few smoothie and cocktail recipes* Sweet Endings . . . Or Beginnings -- We Don't Judge -- has three ice cream recipes (matcha, strawberry, and vanilla flavors), as well as a sponge cake recipe, a New York-style cheesecake recipe, a creme brulee recipe, and a few othersAs you can see from some of the recipe titles, the Edgy Veg duo has fun with their titles and recipes, and their book is really fun to read. Pretty much all of the recipes also use ingredients that you can find at most mainstream grocery stores; if you live in a larger town, you won't have to make a trip to a specialty store. The step-by-step instructions are clearly broken down, and the ingredient lists include metric and imperial measurements. Any special supplies (such as ramekins, a food processor, or a blender) that you'll need for each recipe is also highlighted in a yellow box at the top of the ingredients list. Most of the recipes also contain beautiful full-page color photos, which I love in cookbooks since color photos of the recipes always inspire me.Other fun additions to this cookbook are the "Hack It!" tips that provide quick suggestions for how to change up the recipe a bit if you've made it a lot, as well as video icons that link you back to their YouTube channel for more fun ideas.Today I was short on time, but was easily able to make the It Takes Two to Mango Salad, the Death by Chocolate Mousse (which was especially amazing!), and the Brussels Sprouts that Don't Suck (which was just a basic roasted Brussels sprouts recipe). Each one came together really quickly, and the flavors were really delicious. This new cookbook keep me busy (and well-fed!) for awhile!Bon appetit!

Best Vegan Cookbook In My Collection!
I've been watching The Edgy Veg on YouTube for quite sometime and I love her humor and ability to make recipes that are achievable for the regular home cook that are super tasty and familiar. I'm all for healthy eating, but sometimes you want to have a snack a thon and Netflix & chill ya know? I want to be able to experience dishes I grew up with and have enjoyed my entire life while being cruelty free. This cookbook has unlocked the secrets to that!I have been vegetarian off and on for over three years and have finally been transitioning to being 100% vegan and this cookbook is perfect for lasting success! My husband is eating primarily plant based too and these are the kinds of recipes he will love - he was a big "meat and potatoes, burgers and fries, pizza" guy lol. It has the kind of food in it that will be awesome to make and share with my nonveg family and friends. Not only does she include vital information for newbies and easy to replicate recipes, but also gives recommendations for products when you are short on time and need to take some help from the store. Also, she uses ingredients that can be found without having to go on an international treasure hunt!I think there is something for everyone in this book no matter where you are on your vegan journey or even if you are just looking to incorporate more meat and dairy free meals into your diet. You can see the thought and effort that Candice and her husband have put into the production of this book. It's packed full of great information, delicious recipes, beautiful photos (so great that there are photos of the food - thank you for that!!) and anecdotes. This cookbook is going on my kitchen counter because I know I will be referring to it that often! Congratulations on a job well done The Edgy Veg! I will definitely recommend this as a must have and can't wait for a second book from them!

Accessible & EASY to follow recipes
Just got this book today and I am already in L🧡VE with it. Now, if you are searching & expecting the recipes to be super healthy, keep moving. If you are looking for feel good comfort food, THIS is the book. Personally, I love cookbooks and in my vegetarian to vegan journey, I have acquired MANY vegan meal prep &/or cook books, followed plenty of vegans on IG, searched the web for blogs, etc. for vegan substitutes. This book has been the best I've come across to help provide simple ways to cook recipes containing accessible ingredients. Many folks have their own opinion or preferences on why they chose to become vegetarian/vegan, it is not anyone's job to judge the other or to force their knowledge/beliefs down the other's throat. So far, for me, this book gets straight to the point without the preaching that guilts one into being a vegan. It is loaded with various ways to "Hack It" for common meals. The ingredients for each recipe are easy to find. Some recipes call for a few ingredients, and others call for many ingredients. I couldn't find recipes with instructions on seitan and this book contains plenty. Enough of me chatting this book up, just get it! It's SO worth it.

It’s a great book, but some earlier recipes didn’t make the book.
It good, but I am just a little disappointed that some recipes didn’t make the book. I wonder if it’s because of the commercial titles. I was looking forward to “Taco Bell chili bean burrito“ (I use often, with a few of my own slight changes), but it didn’t make it, as for a few other of her commercial title recipes. I have to say though I do use a few of her recipes over and over again. The tofu scramble hack is an amazing hack! I also like the Cobb Your Enthusiasm Salad (I see what you did there, I’m a curb fan). I do cut most of the oil out and such. There are a lot of great recipes and I recommend this book. But just don’t expect some recipes you may have seen on her website or YouTube video (her earlier ones, not the new ones of course). Best

Not sure what the terminology is....
I’m not quite sure what the politically correct term is for a man who loves women and this book helitrosexual? My wife has been veggie over 12 months and I have drastically reduced my meat intake and intend to keep doing so. I do the cooking so it is in my interest to find tasty plant based meals for both of us to enjoy and to take the dual meal preparation and cooking that has occurred previously.I’ve got a few vegan and veggie cook books but this is hands down a country mile better than any so far.It blows the others away, it gives you the basics you need, tells you how to make constituent ingredients and then gives you the recipes that you know you will crave for as a reformed carnivore using those ingredients. On IG I follow temple of saitan which is only based in London providing amazing looking food like meat free fried chicken and burgers.I’ve got saitan but wondered what they do with it at the temple to make it “chicken” and “beef”, I didn’t want to experiment myself as saitan is actually prohibitively expensive in the UK - IT’S IN THIS BOOK!!!I can’t praise it highly enough, the content, the presentation, the descriptions and also the “hacks” which are alternatives if you aren’t keen or tolerant of some ingredients. It is awesome - Thank You Candice. One last thing, it actually has both US and metric details in all the recipes so instead of having to look up how many ml or g are in a cup they are both there. Why don’t all recipe books do that!?

EdgyVeg on paper
If you follow EdgyVeg on YouTube, you'll love this recipe book. Its got the same goofiness and quirkiness that you see from Candice in her videos, which makes it very entertaining as well as informative! Definitely worth the purchase, and it complements the videos on her YouTube channel really well.

Delicious vegan dishes 🌱
Love all the recipes in this book especially the ‘chicken’ burgers.Would be great if the recipe measurements could also be in grams, not just cups, for us brits.
