It’s a great option for those looking to maintain a clean, fresh-smelling toilet
The Bloo Toilet Blocks Limescale Prevention offer an easy and effective solution to keeping your toilet fresh and free from limescale build-up. These toilet blocks are designed to be dropped into the toilet cistern, where they work to help prevent limescale and grime while providing a fresh, clean fragrance with every flush. Here’s an honest review of its features, pros, and cons: What’s Great: Effective Limescale Prevention: One of the key benefits of these toilet blocks is their ability to prevent limescale build-up in the toilet bowl. In areas with hard water, limescale can accumulate quickly, making the toilet look unsightly and difficult to clean. Bloo Toilet Blocks help to reduce this build-up, keeping your toilet cleaner for longer and making it easier to maintain. Fresh Fragrance with Every Flush: The Bloo Toilet Blocks come with a fresh, pleasant fragrance that’s released with every flush. The scent is clean and subtle, not overpowering, making it ideal for people who want a fresh-smelling toilet without a strong chemical or artificial odour. It helps to maintain a hygienic atmosphere in the bathroom, ensuring a refreshing experience each time you use the toilet. Convenient and Easy to Use: These toilet blocks are very easy to use – simply drop one into your toilet cistern and let it dissolve over time with each flush. There’s no need for complicated installations or messy applications. The simplicity of the product makes it a hassle-free addition to your toilet cleaning routine, perfect for those who want an easy and effective way to keep their toilet in good condition. Long-Lasting: The Bloo Toilet Blocks are designed to last for an extended period, so you won’t need to replace them frequently. Each block provides continuous cleaning and freshening for up to several weeks, making them a cost-effective option for long-term use. This means you get reliable, ongoing protection against limescale without needing constant replacement. Helps Maintain Toilet Hygiene: By preventing limescale and providing a fresh scent, Bloo Toilet Blocks also help to maintain overall toilet hygiene. They provide a bit of extra cleaning power between deep cleans, helping to keep your toilet looking and smelling fresh for longer periods. What Could Be Improved: Limited Limescale Removal Power: While the toilet blocks are great at preventing new limescale build-up, they may not be as effective at removing existing limescale deposits that have already formed in the toilet. If your toilet has significant limescale stains, you might need a more powerful cleaner in addition to the toilet blocks for a deeper clean. Fragrance May Not Last Long Enough for Some Users: Some customers have noted that the fragrance provided by the toilet blocks doesn’t last as long as they would like. While the scent is pleasant initially, it may fade more quickly than expected, especially with frequent flushing. This may require replacing the block sooner than anticipated for those who want a consistently fresh scent in their toilet. Effectiveness May Vary by Water Hardness: The effectiveness of Bloo Toilet Blocks can vary depending on the hardness of the water in your area. In places with very hard water, the blocks may not prevent limescale as effectively as in areas with softer water. If you live in an area with extremely hard water, you might need a more specialised solution for tackling limescale build-up. Noteworthy Observations: Affordable and Accessible: The Bloo Toilet Blocks are relatively inexpensive and can be found easily in most supermarkets and online stores. This makes them an affordable option for anyone looking to maintain a fresh-smelling, limescale-free toilet without spending too much on expensive cleaning products. Environmentally Friendly Option: While the product provides effective cleaning and fragrance, it’s worth noting that the packaging is plastic-based, and users concerned about environmental impact may want to look for alternative products with eco-friendly packaging or biodegradable options. However, the convenience and effectiveness of the product may outweigh this consideration for many. Verdict: The Bloo Toilet Blocks Limescale Prevention are a simple, affordable, and effective way to keep your toilet fresh and reduce limescale build-up, especially in areas with hard water. Their ability to provide a clean fragrance with every flush and prevent new limescale accumulation makes them a worthwhile addition to your toilet cleaning routine. While they may not be as effective at removing existing limescale stains and the fragrance could last longer, the product delivers on its promises of convenience and ease of use. Overall, it’s a great option for those looking to maintain a clean, fresh-smelling toilet without the need for constant scrubbing.

THE BEST BLOCKS THAT WE'VE TRIED.
Last a long time, smell nice, colour the water blue, seem to clean and remove stains well, just drop in cistern, easy to use thanks to the dissolvable film and the bog always looks and smells clean after a flush. That's a result in itself in our house.

Owerful but Potentially Problematic
Having used a wide array of toilet maintenance products over the years—from gels and discs to fizz tabs and bleach solutions—Bloo’s Original Blue In-Cistern Blocks immediately stood out for their sheer convenience and visual satisfaction. Drop it in and forget about it for several weeks? Easy. But as someone who maintains properties professionally and pays close attention to what happens beneath the surface, this little blue powerhouse isn’t without its warnings. First off, yes—it works impressively well on the surface. Each flush releases a rich blue swirl that’s both satisfying and clearly doing something. You notice less limescale build-up in the bowl, odours are kept in check even in high-use households, and there’s a clear foaming action that suggests it's actively cleaning. Over the course of four weeks, one block handled hard water scale, toilet rim residues, and that unspoken bathroom film with noticeable efficiency. However, the hidden trade-off? The inner cistern. After two months of back-to-back use, I noticed something odd in one client’s WC. The toilet began leaking from the base, and upon inspection, the flush seal (a rubber component that forms part of the siphon or flush valve) had deteriorated badly. It was softening, cracking at the edges, and had absorbed an unusual blue tint. The water left in the cistern had taken on a slick feel—almost slippery like a light detergent solution. Testing confirmed what I suspected: the active components, particularly the colourant and limescale agents in Bloo’s formulation, had gradually compromised the rubber seal integrity. The replacement cost wasn’t high, but for those with older cistern parts or non-standard fittings, it’s something to be aware of. Professionally, I now only recommend Bloo blocks in toilets where the cistern has synthetic seals (silicone or PTFE based) or where routine maintenance includes seal inspection every 6–12 months. For more delicate or rarely inspected cisterns—especially those using rubber-based drop valves or older flappers—these blocks can gradually degrade key internal parts. It’s not immediate, and many users might never notice, but it’s a hidden risk if left unchecked. On the plus side, the formulation is potent. It truly does reduce limescale over time, particularly if you're in a hard water area. The scent is crisp, not overly chemical, and the deep blue dye gives visual reassurance that the product is still working. It’s incredibly easy to install—no unwrapping, no fuss, just drop it near the float and you’re done. Each block lasted about 3–4 weeks in standard flush use and up to 5 weeks in a downstairs cloakroom with lower footfall. In terms of presentation and user-friendliness, it’s a winner. Pros: – Powerful limescale prevention and surface cleaning – Long-lasting (800 flushes per block is realistic) – Excellent value, especially in multipacks – Colour-changing indicator lets you know when it’s time to replace – Easy installation with no unwrapping required – Keeps the bowl fresh and blue between cleans Cons: – Can degrade rubber flush seals and gaskets over time – May cause unexpected leaks in older or sensitive cistern systems – Slightly greasy chemical feel to the water in the tank – No protective casing or child-safe packaging – Not suitable for macerators or wall-hung units without regular maintenance access Final thoughts: If you’re the type who wants a hands-off toilet cleaner that works visibly and doesn’t smell like hospital bleach, Bloo Original Blue is excellent—as long as you’re aware of the caveats. I’d advise using it with caution in high-end toilets or those with older plumbing. And if you're in a rental or managing multiple properties, periodic checks on seals and internal cistern fittings are a must. It’s a five-star performer when judged solely on cleaning power and convenience, but loses a star in my book due to the potential for long-term damage. A great product, but with a reminder: what it cleans in your bowl may wear away what’s behind the scenes. Use smartly.

Long lasting, Fresh Smelling, Causes Cistern Leaks Overtime.
I have this product on a Subscribe and Save, the only product I have, as it allows it to be delivered to me at 6 Week Intervals, and it lasts about that. Six Weeks for constant use isn't bad I don't think given the price, turns the water a nice blue colour which is very strong at first, and the scent is fresh up and till the last flush. However, worth noting, I have these in a new style toilet, button flush, Ideal Standard, and over time, the plastic packaging which they come in, which you are supposed to leave on, does not fully dissolve, and if you continue to use these like I do on repeat basis, plastic waste builds up in the bottom of the cistern, which in turns, then gets caught underneath the flush valve, lifting it open causing water to pour into the back of your toilet. If you don't catch this, and/or not able to remove this, as you will need to shut off your water and remove the flush valve to clean it out, I would take some time between continual use to prevent the plastic build up. This isn't a one off either, I have three toilets and this has occurred in all three, if left over time you would have a hefty water bill, maybe a re-design in future...

Smells good but doesn't clean the bowl as promised. Very expensive

One of the best when it comes to cleaning, foaming and refreshing smell. But 1 tablet lasts only for a week. Hence, giving 3 stars only. I wish it lasted more.

The product lasted 1/10th of the number of flushes as advertised. But: it’s an excellent product. Kept the toilet clean and smelling good.

The product is good, unfortunately has a very short life span, and the price is higher in comparison to other such products on Amazon itself, thus givig a 2 STAR rating

I got bloo toilet block delivered just 5days ago and I put it in the flush tank , yesterday I was shocked to see that there was no foaming or cleaning in the toilet pot unlike as claimed by the manufacturer I dont think i used the flush more than 15 times. This is not worth its claims OR I must have got a sub standard quality goods. If the manufacturer/supplier can check & send one more pack of the same product I will use & give a final review if Amazon can help & followup in the matter.
