That Griswald Moment
When you open the Amazon envelope, these lights are not too impressive. They are literally just fairy string lights with thin copper wiring. You decide to give them a try, anyway (spoiler alert, you will be glad you did); after all, they have great Amazon reviews! Remember that moment Clark Griswald asks Russ to help him untangle balls of lights? That is how you will feel because even though these lights look neatly wrapped up, they might be a tangled mess. Installation took longer than anticipated for this reason. Each strand is more than long enough to wrap around a 6' porch column. The wire that runs from the solar box to the lights is clear and long enough to ensure the solar panels are sitting in the sunlight; I wouldn't mind if this piece was shorter to more easily hide them. Each solar box comes with a stake, but I am not using them; one broke, and the boxes just sit on my porch. Neighbors walked by and asked what I was doing as I was installing these lights. Because of the color and extremely thin wire, they blend in well with my wooden porch columns; I like that! I told my neighbors I am putting up lights, and we will see if they show up at night! Low and behold, I looked out my window later, and they were WELL LIT. I could not believe how bright they are. It was the real Clark Griswald moment! The lights have different settings to make them flash; I wish there was a setting to keep them still, but alas, they were only $10 for a couple strands, so I am happy. The power on/off button is kind of hard to push, but in the dark I can easily differentiate it from the "mode" button because of how hard it is to push in. I do wish the lights had a remote so I wouldn't have to go out in the cold to operate them. :)I recommend! Just be prepared to do some untangling.

Still working every day after having been installed 5weeks ago.
The fairy lights were so easy to string along on the shrubs and window box in front of my house. No electrical cords to deal with made it a breeze! They come on faithfully every evening as soon as it is sufficiently dark and last thru most of the night. That said, the mode button needs be improved, particularly when using multiple strings at a time and if you want to have them set to the same mode (blinking, twinkling, steady, etc.) You simply have to keep hitting the mode button to see what setting it is on, but you can not see the lights during the day to determine what mode is on and at night you encounter different difficulties making it difficult to select the desired mode. At the very least they should number and describe the various modes in the literature. A corresponding number that is lit should be next to the mode button for easy selection. Right now one string is twinkling, another blinking and two are constantly changing in various lighting displays. I would be happy to simply have them all set on steady - or twinkling.

Good for the price
I really like these lights after all is said and done. They look great at night. I give a 1 star for install and 4 stars (not 5) because of one detail. The way these lights come wrapped is in a word DUMB. The solar square side of the line is pulled thru the hole in each string. So in order to begin wrapping your post, pole, bed, tree, etc. with each string, you have to work around the solar square, which is a real pain. The "donut" hole in the wrapped string is not large enough to feed the solar square thru so that it is easier to unravel. In order to get a good warp, you have to unravel the entire string, fighting off creating knots because of the way it's wrapped in packaging. Once it's completely unraveled and straight, you can re-roll the string into a manageable coil. Other than that, you'll be fighting going around the square solar panel as you unravel the string. It's dumb enough to ruin the experience of having a fairly cheap product to having a great looking product. IF it was easy to unravel straight from the box. No fuss. It would earn a 5th star. Only up for a day now, but I like the final look. very cool.

Think twice about solar lights in Indiana...
I think these lights work fine... Unfortunately Northern Indiana has A LOT of cloud cover. I guess I'm just used to it and didn't realize just how little sun we actually get until I started paying attention to it after I bought these lights. They do work, but because we haven't had a single day of full sunlight since I bought these, I don't actually know how long they stay on when fully charged. But they do look nice when they are on, not as bright as regular Christmas lights, but I didn't expect them to be. I just wanted lights that could be put up easily, not be too heavy, and didn't need batteries. These fit the bill. I may, however, supplement these lights with some other fairy lights that use batteries since I just invested in rechargeable batteries. Overall, I would recommend these lights if you get plenty of sunlight.

Soft gentle light - great to accent stairs or railing
this was a good buy. Using one for outdoors stairs and another for balcony railing. Not intrusive, soft light. Can't see them during the day (perfect). when using direct light only and very little direct sun, they last about 3 hours. Full sun they last 6-8 hours

Love these!
I bought the lights to put in my outdoor lanterns. By the time I set everything up, I was only able to charge them for a few hours before nightfall. The lights were beautiful and bright all night until the sun came up. I love that they will light on their own each night and turn off in the morning. I think it looks beautiful! Perfect product for the idea I had!
