Perfect guide to getting started with meditation and mindfulness. I was such a novice and didn’t understand the benefits of meditation. This book helped in the initial learning process.

A good reference source for anyone interested in learning about the many meditation techniques.
I have been into the arts of Tai Chi, Qigong, Yoga, Reiki, hypnosis, self-hypnosis and meditation for more than sixty years. When I saw this fantastic 400 page soft cover book (The Meditation Bible: the definitive guide to meditations for every purpose by Madonna Gauding) on Amazon for a bargain price I immediately purchased it.I am familiar with numerous meditation methods but this interesting and very informative book has many meditation techniques that I had never used in the past. This book is organized into two parts. Part one (Before you begin) covers what is meditation, why meditate, preparation, what you will need, consistency, sacred space and meditation postures. The second section (The meditation director) explains the many meditation techniques. It begins with how to use the directory, calming and centering, living mindfully, healing body, mind and spirit, get moving, love and compassion, problem-solving, manifesting your dreams, connecting with the divine and a glossary and index section. If you are into meditation of any kind, this book is for you. It presents numerous meditation techniques and explores in detail how to apply each method. My only complaint and this is why I gave four stars rather than five, is the font type is so small that it is a strain on the eyes even wearing glasses.Rating: 4 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Chair/Seated Tai Chi, Qigong, and Yoga stretching for seniors and the physically challenged).

Don't meditate too long on buying this book
This book was an absolute waste of my time. As it is nothing more than what looks like a copy and paste throw together that the author put together in her spare time. It wastes paper resources by having every page of the book in glossy format, and for what so that anyone with two brain synapses sparking simultaneously. And what some people might think of as wow she covered numerous meditations styles and ideas, to me looks more like she skimmed over numerous ways to meditate, without having any real meat to each one. I can't believe a trees life was ended over this. Beyond that the seller that sent it to me got it to me very rapidly.

Nice Intro to Meditation
Good intro to meditation with lots of information to sort through and think about. Gives great suggestions for altars, meditation practices, etc. FYI - this is a small, but very thick book. I was quite surprised when I received it as I expected a regular sized or larger sized paperback instead of a small book. The small size though lends to lots of pages so it is very thick. The small size of the book does help in my meditation area which is small so it does not cause too much clutter.

I'll Never Run Out of Meditations
I won't have to worry about getting bored with doing the same meditations over and over or having to buy a new CD or anything. The Walking Meditations are my favorite as I can walk my dogs and get my meditation to calm my anxiety at the same time! Dogs get their calm from the walk and sniffing all the interesting "pee-mail" and I get my calm from the meditations! Not into "pee-mail" personally! LOL Great book!

A little treasure of a book
I borrowed this book from a library and liked it so much I bought a copy! It is billed as the definitive guide to meditation and it lives up to its name. It begins with outlining what meditation is and the benefits of it. Next it takes the reader through preparation such as creating a sacred space, suitable clothing, something comfortable on which to sit, timers and bells. We then learn about the importance of postures and the consistency and practice. Part two tells the reader how to use the directory and provides a variety of meditations under eight headings from calming and centring to connecting to the divine via static and moving meditation practices such as swimming or running. Meditation has a vocabulary all of its own for which a useful glossary is provided at the back of the book. I think this is a little treasure of book and little it is. At just 5.5 x 6.5 inches it is highly portable.

I love this book. It is a really good reference book with many, many, many suggestions of ways how to meditate. It is all in colours with beautiful inspiring pictures. Each meditation is describe in about 2 pages, with bullet list, easy to follow, Its an easy read. I love to open the book randomly and try the meditation I found. There are so many I didn't know of. Really a keeper! I suggest to all who know nothing about meditation and think is only about sitting cross legged.. They are always surprised!

Nice little book, would have prefered a larger size printed format.
This is a physically small size book - similar to a paperback novel, although it contains all the required information. I'm sure that this book has been printed in a larger format (~A4) in the past, and I'll admit this is what I had in mind at the time of placing my order. Apart from that, I'm please with the book, although for this type of material, a larger size format of such books would be preferred.

Beautifully produced book for coping with the modern world.
I have struggled for years with meditation and usually give up but this beautifully edited and illustrated book was like turning on a light bulb. A friend lent me a copy and I refused to give it back until I had my own. The guides to meditation are arranged in simple categories, including walking, lying (and even gardening) meditations. Each one has helpful suggestions for preparation and ending your meditation. These meditations relate to everyday human situations, are short and easy to follow. I heartily recommend it to anyone who feels frazzled, puzzled or overcome by life.
