Rarely does a Work beat with a Heart of Iron
With the punch of Warren Ellis' Avatar Press work on the superhero genre, Garth Ennis' precise and brutal discipline in the war genre, 20th Century Men by Deniz Camp and Stipan Morian brings the reader on an SF-graphic tour of an alternate history with a politically charged and insightful tale not too far from our own. With a heart that beats like iron and a tone that hits like a battle drum, this is an instant classic in the 21st century.

Amazing.
A beautiful piece of work. Transcends the medium, and leaves you wanting more, but knowing nothing else needs be said.

A stunning work of storytelling and art
I will keep this short: Camp and Morian are a duo made in heaven. This book is a gorgeous marriage of poetic word with sequential art. An unforgettable story from across the world. This was a favorite comic of mine from 2022/2023 as it was coming out in singles. I loved it so much I bought the softcover trade when it came out. It's dense like a novel and utilizes the comics medium ever so delicately, even in the heartbreaking pages. Essays could and will be written about the art and lettering choices in this book.

Terrific
One of the best comics I read last year. Art is amazing and Dennis Camp is sensational.

This is an underrated, all-time classic
The most substantial and meaningful comic/graphic novel I’ve read in a long, long time. Highest recommendation.

Reads Like Kieron Gillen’s Über With The Heart Of Tom King’s Sheriff Of Babylon
Deniz Camp crafts an intricate war epic populated with complicated characters brought to mad life by the bonkers art of Stipan Morian. An alternate history retelling of the 80s Soviet-Afghan invasion spliced with sci-fi and superhero elements. Often dense but never slow or boring. If you’re looking for something different and good, this is it. Definitely graphic novel of the year (2023).

Timeless
The contemplative nature of the main character combined with the incredible art make this a great read. Comparable to Moore and Totleben's miracleman, in terms of quality, in my opinion.

best thing out there
Calling it a thing is rude, this is a fantastic work of art, both visually and textually. You do yourself a disservice by not reading it.

Amazing book
The best comic I've read in the last 10 years. Just a phenomenal work of art. From the story, to the art, just a tour de force.

Brutal and nihilistic ultraviolence framed remarkably poetically
This blood-soaked satirical anti-history of the inhuman machinations of global superpowers is dark and thought-provoking.
