Classic Westerns (Leather-bound Classics)

This book contains important stories that solidified "Westerns" as a literary genre., by authors like: Owen Wister, Willa Cather, Zane Grey, and Max Brand. And physically, the book is gorgeous with its gold-trimmed pages and a built-in cloth bookmark. Plus, it weighs just shy of four pounds and runs more than eleven-hundred pages. To me, it was worth twice the price.

This is a great value for anyone who loves early Westerns. Besides finally reading The Virginian, I was able to read two very good Zane Grey and Max Brand novels. I just read my first Max Brand novel about a month ago and have become a huge fan. I have not liked every Zane Grey novel I have ever read, but these two are both good. I did not care that much for the 6th novel, but it was o.k. For the most part, these truly are classic westerns, as the name of the book says. I am very glad I bought it. Would make a great gift for anyone who likes Westerns, and does not happen to have these particular novels already.

Haven't read it yet, but I love the way the book looks and feels! Seems very sturdy which is good since I'll be taking this every where I go to finish it. If you have trouble seeing, the print is small so make sure you have reading glasses. But it's not bad. I love how it has 6 stories in it! If you're looking for a good book, I recommend this one!

Good stories, beautifully made. I see a lot of people posting about issues with the binding. If you treat it well, you won't have any issues. For this large and good looking a book, the price is amazing.

i started the book these are 4 selected westerns based on living in middle of nowhere i think the description says that stories arnt simular or are different than you would view in movies or older tv shows first book the virginian started out ok so far -owens

I'll be honest I decided I wasn't going to read it so I returned it. The book itself did seem to be very well made.

I like the book a lot, the whole collection really but this book particularly came with it's set of disappointment. The quality of these books are usually really good but the binding for the copy I received was not bound correctly and the pages stick about 2 millimeters beyond the cover of the book which caused folds and loss of the gold color along the edges of the page. The book is still readable and the stories are great but the book cannot be placed in my bookshelf because it damages the book and leaves gold dust on my shelf.

What a beautiful book! The pictures online don't do it justice. Leather bound, with a ribbon to keep your place. The pages are gold edged. Such a beautiful addition to my personal library.

The quality of this series of books is not so good for sure worse than the barns and noble leather bound editions. That said, i think these collection of books is nice if you are interested in westerns.

Great anthology of some of the best classic westerns written. Loving these leather-bound editions from Canterbury Classics. The end pages on this one is stunning! If you love westerns, you'll love this book.

I bought this as a gift for my Dads birthday.It's a really nice book, nice gold edged pages, the front and back are textured/ embossed.The front and back covers are really cool depicting a sunrise/set and night scene respectively.
