Perfectly waterproof!
I wore this poncho on a trip where it rained heavily several days. I didn't have to miss any sights because of the rain. The poncho covered my body and bags, the hood stayed in place perfectly, and I could walk around umbrella-free. Water did not leak through even in heavy rain. The fabric is not flimsy but not too heavy either. It was perfect to have snaps on the sides so I could adjust the coverage as necessary. The poncho was easy to roll up and store in the bag again, easily stowed in my suitcase

No, it's not silnylon. Lists its own weight as 400 gm / 14 oz on packaging.
Already had an identical one. Bought this as backup. I used it as a shelter with a hiking pole in hood and 6 stakes. I also used it as a vestibule for a 2p tent. Works fine for these purposes. Perhaps 10 nights total usage. I never used it as a poncho. 100" x 54". Seams taped. Several tie-outs sewn along edges; plastic snaps down sides. 70D coated nylon. Other reviewers incorrectly claimed this was silnylon; one claimed ~7oz weight.I use a piece of Tyvek with some velcro to extend one side in the rain; otherwise there's not enough room for me (5'8") and my lightweight gear (14 lbs overnight) if it's blowing hard or if wind direction changes.

Great tarp/poncho
A little heavier and bulkier than the newest model. A little cheaper too

Excellent value
Easily covers pack when hiking. It also held up well when worn on brushy trails. Packs down easily after use into its storage bag
