The Filmmaker's Handbook: A Comprehensive Guide for the Digital Age

This book taught me everything I needed to know about filmmaking -- specifically loved the chapters about how film has transitioned to the digital age. This book should really serve as a comprehensive guide. Me and my college classmates all had to get this book and we all found it very useful.

This is a great book for anyone interested in learning more about film and film-making. Some of the terms can be a bit tricky if you don't have a background in photography or film already, but trust me it's nothing a quick Google search can't fix. This book is thick and it certainly uses its weight to go in depth into each subject. It doesn't do any of those 1 paragraph explanations that a lot of "informative" books are accustomed to.Good book! And this is coming form someone with no background in film.The only problem I encountered was with the seller I purchased from. It took them wayyyyy too long to send my package. But, ahh, c'est la vie.

This was my first book on filmmaking howto, and i don,t regret it. This is a general introduction to film making, covering both traditional 16-35 mm mediums and video. It's out of date if you're looking for references to all the latests video hd tech, but a nevertheless very worthwhile.

Now that I am working in the film industry, I still read this book for reference. Steven Ascher lays out everything you need to know about filmmaking. I used this book when studying film in college and it is still relevant today!

This book has it all - from the optical inner workings of a lens to the foundations of digital video. Use it as a self-paced learning tool or a reference manual. It covers almost every topic in film imaginable.

This book was great for what I wanted it for, being a film student I felt it would be nice to have something to look back at anytime I forgot something when I am done with school. This book is a good source for a reference for refreshing your self or for learning something you didn't know!

Very comprehensive and informative book. A must to own for every person considering a career or who want to expand his knowledge as a filmmaker. Massive amount of information that can be easily read over again or this book can be used as a lexicon of film-making.
