Tasty, smooth, and a solid protein option!
I’ve tried a lot of protein powders over the years, and Designer Whey Vanilla is definitely one of the better ones. The vanilla flavor is clean and not overly sweet or artificial, which I appreciate—especially when mixing with just water or almond milk. It blends smoothly with no chalky aftertaste or gritty texture, which makes it great for quick shakes after a workout. One of the big pluses is that it’s low in sugar and calories, but still provides a good protein boost with 20g per serving. I also like that it includes a mix of whey concentrate and isolate, plus some added vitamins and minerals, making it feel like more than just plain protein. Overall, a solid, budget-friendly option for anyone looking to supplement their protein intake without unnecessary additives or weird flavors. I’ll definitely be buying it again!

Easy to digest and flavor as you wish
Designer Whey is easy for me to digest, and I appreciate the "full meal" additions of vitamins and minerals, which makes this supplement a more effective snack. I have the Vanilla flavor. As others have said, it's not very sweet. Regarding how to mix it: * Shake it enough and it comes up smooth. * Drink it with water only and it tastes chalky - not recommended. Adding some milk or juice brings up the quality of the taste very fast. I actually want something sweeter, so I had some milk to remove the chalkiness, and add sugar free Torani syrup as a flavored sweetener. Sometimes I add cinnamon or cocoa powder. I tend to choose vanilla flavoring, because it's easier to mix in with other flavors for variety. * Recovering from surgery, I do need the extra protein to regain muscle, and for me, this is an easy supplement to take.

Perfect supplement for late life caregiving.
We love Designer whey and have been using it for 15 years . When the meal replacement came out I found it a wonderful "milkshake" for my aging mother who is hard pressed to chew and eat as she should . Even swallowing capsules of vitamins and supplements is a chore some days. It's good for her and good for her morale as well to have such an easy and delicious way to start her day. The flavor of both the vanilla and the chocolate is just right for us. It's almost a malted flavor that younger folks may not appreciate as it's a delicate and even nostalgic nuance for older folks. The value is great considering the vitamins, probiotics and very important fiber boost. Keep up the excellent work Designer Whey ( first recommended to us by Dr. David Williams of Healthy Directions who has been a dependable resource for us years).

It is whey based.
The flavor is watery but still good. It does keep you feeling full for awhile. But the texture is chalky and somewhat gritty ever after being mixed in a blender. It contains 25 grams of protein, 2 grams of sugar and 23 vitamins and minerals.

Flavor Matters!
We normally love this product but I ordered it in the wrong flavor. We love it in French vanilla but hope to never get the vanilla bean again. It gets really 'chalky' especially by the last swallow. I kept thinking how could it have changed this much but then saw the flavor. Originally I had the correct flavor but when I switched to a smaller size the flavor changed. The company reached out to me which I appreciated. They offered a refund, but this was more my mistake than theirs. I honestly did not know how many different types of designer whey they have until I visited the store and started looking at the ingredients and what different products offer. This particular product offers the fiber and I assume that is from chia and quinoa seeds and oats. That is what gives it that grainy/chalky taste. If you are looking for extra fiber this is a great choice. It just isn't what I prefer, thus the 3 stars. The reason I love the French Vanilla product is that it is made with Stevia (I believe they all are) and that is one of the only artificial sweeteners I like. It is very hard for me to find a protein powder that I like. I originally discovered this years ago in a health store that no longer exists. I was excited to find I could order it on amazon. We mostly use the protein shake as a meal replacement. But sometimes I use it to add to food such as making protein balls. My rating for the company would be 5 stars and their variety in products 5 stars. I do recommend you look more closely than I did when ordering at the various products they offer, comparing the nutrition facts to meet your own needs.

If you want to pay for an overpriced Kind bar in powder form...
I've been a fan of Designer Whey for a while but their formula changes like this one to pay more money for less protein are making me consider abandoning using their products altogether. Their sourcing and filtration for their protein is decent but geez-- seriously? Advertising 25g ''per serving'' on the front of the bottle (when it's actually 12.5g/1 scoop) due to the scoop count serving is ultimately false advertising and a joke. The going competitive rate for protein powder per scoop is 20-25g of protein per scoop. I have settled for 16g for Designer Whey's old vanilla bean protein formula, and they've increased the protein, but now they're adding more probiotics to their formulas that I just don't want [see smaller vanilla bean DW protein can for comparison that actually has 20g/scoop but with probiotics ]. If you're looking for a protein powder that actually has a greater ratio of protein to carbs, and actually has a significant amount of protein (FYI even chicken bone broth has 9g of protein per 8 FL ounces) get another product!
