Warm and adjustable. Use photo size chart!
I was nervous to purchase this because of the sizing discrepancy between the photo size chart and the one listed in the description. After receiving this I can say with certainty that the sizing in the photo size chart is correct. Ignore the sizing listed in the description. The size large fits my 20 lb Boston Terrier who is 16" long, has a neck size of 13" and a chest size of 21". I think the large is perfect for her wide chest and fits her lean hind quarters because of the adjustable gussets this jacket has. I was able to cinch the back as far as they could go and it's just right for her now. It's a little baggy in the belly but not so much that I foresee it being an issue for comfort or cleanliness. The jacket has knit sleeves that are pretty wide-- a little too wide for my skinny legged girl. But again, nothing I foresee being an issue. The sleeves do have little straps that allow them to be folded up and snapped so they can be shorter for pups with stubby legs. The hood is shallow and doesn't cover my dog's eyes at all. I'm not sure how useful it will be and my pup seemed to despise it being on her head. But it does snap to the jacket so it can't flop down onto her head. It is fleece lined just as the entire jacket is so it may provide some extra warmth for those super cold days that are inevitable with Wisconsin winters. There is a slot for the leash to hook to a harness but it is really small-- I think we'll be able to use it but it looks like it's going to be a pain. I suppose that the smaller opening does let in less cold air, though, so that's good. Also, the pocket on the back is real and would probably fit some treats and/or a couple poop bags.Overall I'm really happy with this purchase and with how quickly it arrived. We have not used it outside yet so I will update my review if my opinion changes at all with use.

Not selling the same coat anymore!
------UPDATE Dec 23 ------I re-ordered another one of these coats for my other dog and I was very disappointed that it was NOT the same coat I had initially purchased from this seller. I ended up returning it because it was not the same quality as the previous coat and it didn't seem as warm. The brand of coat I was originally sent in January was Silver Paw. The one I received this time around was a cheap knock-off of that coat with the PetsLove logo on it.------UPDATE Feb 18th -------We have been snowed on and rained on and it's still a great and warm coat. It kept my boy warm and dry. I definitely ordered a size too big for my mini schnauzer. The coat is too long for his body so I just roll up the bottom a little bit and it's fine.----------------------Excellent quality coat! I bought a size L. Fleece-lined so it is very warm and well made.I have a 18lbs male miniature schnauzer. He's 18" long from the base of his neck to the base of his tail and 20" around his chest. In the past I have always had the problem of the underside of the coat being too long and he ends up peeing on it, but not so with this coat. It is just short enough so this isn’t a problem. It has reflectors for the night time and snaps for the hood and sleeves to keep them in place. I also like that the hood isn’t just for show and fits him fairly well. I probably could have bought a M for him, but I like that I can put his sweater on under this and layer him up if it gets too brutal outside. Here are the measurements I took of the coat:From the base of the hood to the bottom of the coat: 15.5"The length of the underside/opening of the coat: 8"The circumference of the widest part: ~23"

Almost Perfect
3/2/2017 Update: Had to downgrade this jacket. After only one winter--and a verrrry mild one at that--the Velcro is now useless. The hook side is mostly broken off, so it doesn't close very well, and the seam has ripped. I looked everywhere for Velcro strips in the same 1 3/8" width, and nada. So I'm left with either trying to sew on different strip widths myself (or have a tailor do it), or just replace the jacket at around the same cost. I notice some of the earlier 2016 reviews have the Silver Paw brand coats, and some of the newer ones reference the "cheaper" PetsLove coat. Well, I had the PetsLove version. I wonder if the original Silver Paw had a better quality enclosure. I'm headed over to that listing to give it a shot. I want to stick with this same design, as the hood falls over his forehead effortlessly and stays in place, and you need some sort of hood on colder Chicago days.Sizing update as well: Once he neared his adult size of 26 lbs, I had to get the XL, so I gave the L to his 18-lb Frenchie friend. His chest (22" around) is just too deep for the L anymore.Excellent in many ways. The only reason I give it four stars instead of five is that the leash slot is incredibly small. It's too small to pull the collar/harness rings through, so you first have to thread the leash fastener through the hole--and it just barely fits through that, with a struggle-then you have to hook that to the dog *before* putting the coat on. I love that the hat is designed in a shallow-shell way, so it even stays on a French bulldog with very tall ears. He's been able to shake off all other sweater hats. Easy to put on. I slip one leg in, then pull the coat over his back, slip the other leg in, then fasten the Velcro under his chest. For a 23-lb French bulldog, the Large is perfect. He's got the deep chest of a much larger dog,I worry that the chest may not be deep enough if he gains any more weight, since this coat is most designed for a longer, less-deep-chested dog. Little bowling balls with deep chests may find the next size up too long, hanging inches past the end of the butt. The butt area does have pull tabs that bring that area in a bit, so there is some help there. I wish the Velcro strips had more width to them to make the chest fit more adjustable. If you have a longer dog with a less deep chest, you won't be able to "over-wrap" the chest strips to tighten the fit. It's going to fit wherever the thin strips line up.The legs can be worn rolled up for easy ingress/egress or rolled down for extra warmth. Overall, a very high quality item. Just wish that leash slot were about 50% longer. It's right enough that I don't think a larger opening would let in much cold air, if any. Re: colors: the red is accurate as pictured--veryyyyy bright, so if you're down for a jacket offering maximum visibility, the red is it.The black is a more sedate choice, but all have the reflective strip on the spine.
