Why did you pick this product vs others?: Had a weird brand of water trough, and I took a chance on these. It worked as it should and now I have a water trough that has a plug!

This replaced the cheap Behrens Steel Tank drain plug perfectly. The original drain plug was forever cross-threading on my wife, and was generally made of poor material as well as extremely overpriced as a replacement. It has the feel of a 50cent Chinese part that they are selling for nearly 30 dollars. No thanks. This plug by contrast feels much more quality, nicer silicone washer, robust threads on both the plug and the drain--in short, a much better replacement and about 1/3rd the price. I think this is priced fairly. Edit: I should mention that the 1 inch plug required the hole in the metal to be enlarged over the OEM one. I used a plasma cutter, could also use snips or a grinder. I wanted the increased speed of drain, thus the larger plug. Simple mod.

We have a hard plastic kiddie pool for our dog. The problem was emptying it every week to clean it; we'd have to stand on the edge to smoosh it down to get the water to run out until it was empty enough to dump. This plug has made it so much easier! All we have to do is unscrew the plug then go back inside for a while. When we come back out, it's ready to clean and refill. It was very easy to drill a hole in the side of the pool, just make sure you get it as low as you can for maximum emptying. I'm very happy with this purchase!

I put this on my 100 gallon plastic kiddie pool (from Menards) as a drain hole. The first one I received was screwed together, and there was NOTHING I could do to get it apart to even install it. I was feeling realllllly stupid about it, until my husband tried and he couldnt get it unscrewed either (the part of the rubber o-ring). I had to re-order and that one works perfectly. There is no leaking, and the hole is just big enough to drain the water out of the pool - SOOOOOO much easier than using a bucket to try and scoop 100 gallons of water out.

I saw some reviews that touted how great this fitting is to add a drain to a rigid plastic kiddie pool. I ordered one to give it a try. Works GREAT!! So I ordered 2 more. Now I can easily drain the cheap pool from the big box store instead of struggling to change out the water and damaging the cheap pool by creasing it. My suggestion is place the fitting as low as possible, at the transition from side wall to bottom. I traced the hole on the male part of the fitting with a sharpie, cut it with scissors, then inserted the fitting through the pool wall, screwing on the female coupling over it tight. There is a threaded drain plug that needs to be fairly tight.

This worked on my husbands cold tub. The warranty on tub was just about up but of course company was out of stock. When it came back the company wouldn't answer my e-mails. So we ordered this worked fantastic Be ware of some of these products. They say guaranteed for a year but then won't respond. Amazon couldn't or wouldn't stand behind this product.
