Well made / Extremely Versitile Pan
UPDATE: I wanted to chime in again after owning the pan several years. It has become my single favorite pan for when I am REALLY cooking (that is, making a curry, soup, or spaghetti rather than just frying a burger). It is great for braising meats and sauteing onions and then just dumping in the rest to make a stew. Well worth the bump from 4 to 5 stars.I do agree the lid could be better, but I have both glass and aluminum lids that fit it fine. A GREAT pan.!Original:In person this pan looks a bit shallower and wider than it does in the picture. I like cooking curries / spaghetti sauces etc. that start out with browning onions or meats. This is far better for that purpose than an open skillet because it is deep enough to catch the spatter. It is easy to modify standard casserole/sauce/curry recipes to go "waterless". That just means less water and finishing cooking on very low heat with the lid vent in the sealed position. This does seem to improve the flavor, and makes the pan a cinch to clean up, as the low heat prevents any sticking.Very thick multi-layer heat retaining base. The lid and sides of the pan are nice and thick too. A very good pan, and a steal if you can pay less than $60.

Quality Cookware.
I am amazed at the quality of this stockpot! I feel like a millionaire every time I use it, which is every other day. It is heavy due to quality steel core. I think I got a bargain and would order more from this company. I use it to make large batches of oatmeal or stews. It is quality made! The best cookware I have ever purchased so far.

Lid disappointment
The pan itself is great. Heavy, good thick layered bottom. But the lid destroys the whole pan. It is light weight and doesn't make a air tight seal. Sadly its like any cheapy pan you might purchase because of the lid not sealing tightly. The so-called knob in the lid...just a gimmick as far as I can see.

Like the pot. Lid melts.
I've mixed feelings about this pot. When I first got it several months ago I loved it and its lid. But after using it a lot it seems the inside of the lid (beneath the plastic knob-shaped handle that has the open and shut hole) has melted? No, I don't overheat my pots. I'm careful about how I use all my pots and pans, simply because they are costly to replace. The lid still works as it should, but I'm worried about any melting plastic? I recently discovered you can unscrew that entire plastic knob from the lid so as to give it a good wash. But the lid is totally useless without it because it has an odd shaped hole and I can't imagine how to find a new knob to fit it. I love the pot itself. Works great for my needs, heats up, cooks evenly, easy to clean. I am keeping the pot, but likely I will look for another lid, especially a domed. I am giving it 4 stars because of the pot, the design of the lid, but minus 1 star if indeed the plastic is melting. It appears to be. Unless I was sold one that was already misshapen or melted? At the time I didn't know, and had no reason to check to see if the plastic was perfectly rounded inside there. Unless you know what to look for, you might not notice.Edit almost a year later: I've dropped down to 3 stars. I had to toss out the lid. It kept melting. I use another lid that doesn't melt. It's too bad, because I liked the function of that type of lid, just not the plastic on it. The pan is still holding up and working as it should.

A few instructions
This is a good heavy based pot made of T304 Stainless Steel. T304 Stainless Steel is 304 Stainless Steel with at the most .03% carbon. The ratio of chromium to nickel is 18 to 8. There are directions on how to wash the pot upon receiving it. A lifetime warranty is included but be sure to keep your receipt. The directions do not say to avoid using the dishwasher but I recommend leaving the lid out of the dishwasher to keep the top nob in good shape. It works well on my glass cooktop and the vacuum seal keeps vapors from overflowing onto my cooktop. The only other instructions show how to work the steam control but more video instructions on cooking with waterless cookware can be found online. Bon Appetit!

Surgical Stainless Steel Stockpot
I love this pot. I cook with very little water and the meats are juicy ant tender and the vegetables taste divine. It's easy to clean. I have a hard time using any of my other pots.
