Thorough, well produced and insightful
Nicely done! I studied Chinese in university three decades ago, and have always been interested in typography in general. Wonderful to find booklet on the topic. The author seems to know the subject, and offers insights hard to find elsewhere. I've even looked in Chinese bookshops have been unable to find this kind of information. The formatting of the Kindle edition is very good -- apart from a minor spacing issue with Hanzi running together with the English equivalent, the layout of this volume is the best I've seen of any Kindle edition, showing great care to its production. Many thanks to the Australian author for his keen attention to the topic, and willingness to offer the booklet for a reasonable price that won't earn him any money. This is a labor of love, and I grateful to be able to enjoy it. Looking forward to sequent installments.

A thoughtful and well researched guide to fine Chinese typesetting
A thoughtful and well researched guide to fine Chinese typesetting, which can be compared to Bringhurst's Elements of Typographic Style in it's format, scope and detail. As a typography teacher this book is a useful resource for understanding and putting in context Chinese typesetting practice, making the kinds of connections that are helpful when teaching Chinese speaking students western typesetting practice. It is also a practical (and beautiful) book for English speaking practitioners tasked with bi-lingual typesetting challenges. It may also be of general interest for designers interested in discovering non-western typographic traditions, and better understanding the formal composition of Chinese graphic design.
